The Simpsons creator Matt Groening is the brainchild
behind the sci-fi comedy Futurama. It centers around a man named Philip
J Fry who is accidentally cryogenically frozen in 1999 and wakes up 1000
years later in a massive sci-fi parody-ridden world. He then joins the Planet
Express led by his only living relative, Professor Farnsworth, as an intergalactic
delivery boy along with Leela, Bender and a host of others. Anyone who likes
the Simpsons will love Futurama, and I even find it slightly better because
there are no boundaries confining the humor.

The
crew:
Philip
J. Fry- Fry is the Homer-Simpson-esque slacker of the group and the
only character from the past.
Leela-
Leela is the tough cyclops captain of the Planet Express who is for the most
part the voice of reason in the show.
Bender-
Bender is the crude, alcohol-guzzling robot who was formerly a bending unit
and now is part of the crew of Planet Express.
Professor Farnsworth-
Farnsworth is Fry's only living relative in the year 3000 and runs Planet
Express.
Amy
Wong- Amy is the Asian intern and goes to Mars University as well.
Dr. Zoidberg-
Dr. Zoidberg is the resident doctor who isn't exactly familiar with the nuances
of human anatomy. He also gets picked on quite a bit from the others.
Hermes- Hermes
is the beaurocrat of Planet Express and loves to do paperwork.
Other characters-
Zapp Brannigan-
Zapp is a rather inept captain who from time to time will run into the Planet
Express crew. He always finds a way to bring up the fact that he and Leela
slept together much to her chagrin.
Kif Kroker- Kif
is Zapp's assistant who tends to all of his menial tasks.
Nibbler- Nibbler
is Leela's pet, an alien they found while making a delivery. Despite his diminutive
size, Nibbler has a major appetite.
Morbo- Morbo
is an alien newscaster who looks down on the human race and always has a funny
comment to make about it.
