An Extremely Goofy Movie

Goofy and Max return in the sequel to A Goofy Movie with An Extremely Goofy Movie! Max has finally finished high school and is about to head off to college...much to Goofy's great disappointment. When Max eagerly leaves with his buddies for Freshmen Orientation, fun and the College X-Games, Goofy is left all alone and depressed, wishing Max were still a little kid. His distraction even leads to losing his job.

Meanwhile, Max and his two best friends are hitting the college scene and turning heads with their skateboarding and rollerblading talents - they're excited about participating in the famous College X-Games and winning (no Freshmen team has ever won). They also quickly find the local coffee shop, The Java Bean, meet new friends and hang out at local night clubs. But when the head of the famous Gamma Mu Mu Fraternity, Bradley Uppercrust III, tries to draft Max for his College X-Games team (and refusing to draft PJ and Bobby), Max meets his rival. Things only get worse when Goofy, informed by the unemployeement office that going back to finish his degree will assist with him obtaining a new job, shows up at Max's college to finish his education. Max and Goofy butt heads, and Max finally manages to pawn his doting father off on the college librarian, Sylvia (who hits things off with Goofy instantly - the two both love the 1970's) and Brad (who is under the false impression that Goofy is a great skateboarder like Max). Things escalate as the College X-Games draw near, and everyone is under stress and tension. In the end, Max and Goofy acknowledge that family is more important than anything else.

The film is a fun watch, and has a slightly different soundtrack than the first (more classic 1970's hits, rather than the usual Disney-created songs that were in the first). However, there are some plotholes. We still don't know anything about Max's mother, or what happened to PJ's mom and sister. Roxanne has vanished since the first movie (nothing is mentioned about her, and Max is seen flirting with a girl in a department store in this film), and Stacy is unmentioned as well. On the other hand, PJ picks up a girl, and the film hits on a lot of fun, stereotypical college scenes that will have anyone who's been to college getting fond memories (or maybe not-so-fond!). New characters like Sylvia and The Beret Girl are gems, and there are a lot of great, funny scenes. The film is classic animation, and a lot of fun to watch despite some obvious holes.

Main Characters:

Goofy (VA: Bill Farmer)
Max's over-protective, doting father watches his son eagerly take off for college at the start of the movie, but quickly becomes depressed and distracted (resulting in the loss of his job). When Goofy tries to apply for a new job, he's told that only those with college degrees have any chance at succeeding in getting a good job...so Goofy happily heads off to college to be with Max - even though he hasn't been since the 1970's.

Max Goof (VA: Jason Marsden)
Max is out of high school and in college - he's eager to participate in the famed College X-Games with his two best friends, PJ and Bobby, and can't wait to get away from his father. But when Goofy shows up on campus to complete his degree, things start going in a different direction than Max ever planned.

Other Characters:

Peter "PJ" Junior (VA: Rob Paulsen)
One of Max's best friends from high school is PJ, who is practically being kicked out of his house to go to college by his father, Pete. PJ wants to compete in the College X-Games as well, but once at school he quickly learns to love the beatnik coffee hangout, "The Java Bean", and falls in love with The Beret Girl.

Bobby Zimmeruski (VA: Pauly Shore)
Max's other best friend from high school is Bobby, who can't wait to get to college for the X-Games (he excels at rollerblading) and is sure Max will take the campus by storm with his awesome skateboard techniques. Bobby tries to get into the coffee and nightlife scenes, but is a little too enthusiastic for his own good.

Sylvia Marpole (VA: Bebe Neuwirth)
Sylvia is the Head Librarian at the college. She and Goofy hit it off fast when they each learn the other is a fanatic about 1970's memorabilia. When Goofy loses his focus, Sylvia helps him back on track.

The Beret Girl (VA: Vicki Lewis)
The Beret Girl is never named, but she gives unusual beatnik performances at "The Java Bean" cafe and is extremely wise and mystical. She quickly befriends Max, PJ and Bobby when the first arrive at college, and later she and PJ began dating.

Bradley "Brad" Uppercrust III (VA: Jeff Bennett)
Brad is the head of the Gamma Mu Mu Fraternity and has won the College X-Games five years running. However, Brad relies on fear, manipulation and cheating to win the games. He tries to recruit Max for his team, but when he refuses to admit Bobby and PJ, he and Max start a huge rivalry, where Bradley plays very dirty.

Tank (VA: Brad Garrett)
Tank is Bradley's right-hand-man in the Gamma Mu Mu Fraternity, and a member of the Gammas' X-Games team. Tank is a bit obnoxious and loud, but just when he needs Brad the most, Brad proves he's not loyal to the Gammas - just to himself. Tank changes his tune then, and finally befriends Max.

The Gamma Mu Mu Fraternity (VAs: Unknown)
The Gammas are a group of obnoxious upper-classmen who are all under Bradley's rule. Most of them are sneaky, cheating jerks who want to win using any means necessary. They're usually hanging around Brad, obeying his every command.

Chuck the Sportscaster (VA: Jeff Bennett)
Chuck is the main sportscaster for the ESPN / ESPN2 College X-Games. Obnoxious and loud, Chuck rules the sportscast and doesn't give his co-host, Ken, much time at all.

Ken Clark (VA: Dakin Matthews)
Ken tries his best to be the "man-on-the-street" at the ESPN / ESPN 2 College X-Games, but his co-host Chuck often just pushes him off the screen.

Peter Pete (VA: Jim Cummings)
PJ's dad is still the infamous Pete, and he's ready to get PJ out of his house and into college so he can stop "babysitting". Pete doesn't believe in college himself, and feels that as long as you know how to add money, you don't really need an education.

Goofy's Boss (VA: Unknown)
Goofy's boss is a scary jerk who, when Goofy falls down on the job and blows the factory up, loses his temper and fires Goofy.

Unemployment Lady (VA: Jeff Bennett)
This woman tries to help Goofy when he's fired from his job, and informs him that only those with college degrees can succeed in the world. It is she who urges Goofy to go back and finish his education.
