Buzz Lightyear of Star Command

Based on the Buzz Lightyear character in Toy Story, this is the show in which the toy is supposed to be based from. Buzz and his team of Space Rangers (named originally enough Team Lightyear) work for Star Command, a military operation dedicated to defending the Galactic Alliance a union between planets against the forces of evil, particularly Evil Emperor Zurg, "Sworn enemy of the Galactic Alliance."

Buzz Lightyear is a hilarious Disney/Pixar show directed by Robert Schooly and Mark McCorkindale and written mostly by Bill Motz and Bob Roth, the team that did the Aladdin, Hercules, and Tarzan series. It is a humorous parody of the science fiction genre, even going so far as to hire science fiction actors such as Linda Hamilton, Mark Hamill, Jonathan Harris, and Bill Mumy and others to do voice-overs. It is not as overly moralistic as other Disney shows and mostly opts for laughs. On that level, it works.
