Bleach is an anime series based on the manga by Tite Kubo of the same name. The manga has been running since January 2002, and is still going - new chapters are featured in the popular manga magazine Shonen Jump. The anime has been running since October 2004 and animated by Studio Pierrot (creators of Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, Tokyo Mew Mew ect.)
Bleach is about 15 year old high school student, Ichigo Kurosaki, who has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. Ichigo lives with his dad and his two younger sisters, who own the local clinic. Being able to see ghosts means that he can also see Death Gods (Shinigami), and he meets Rukia Kuchiki while she is searching for a Hollow (evil spirit). The Hollow threatens Ichigo's family, so he fights the Hollow with Rukial; she is injured and transfers almost all of her death god powers to Ichigo. The next day, Rukia turns up in Ichigo's class at school, and to his surprise, everyone can see her! Because she had to transfer her death god powers to Ichigo, she is now stuck in the human world and forced to live in a gigai — an artificial human body. Ichigo is now forced to take over her job and become a "stand-in death god," and with Rukia, Ichigo must search for Hollows, perform soul burials, and send them to the Soul Society (spirit world, afterlife). However, it is illegal to transfer death god powers to humans, and Rukia is taken back to the Soul Society to be sentenced to death. Ichigo and his friends, who have now developed their own powers, must travel to the spirit world to save her, fighting many new powerful enemies.
Although Bleach is a Shounen anime (Shounen = Young Boy, Shounen animes are usually made for young boys), it can be enjoyed by anyone who likes Action/Adventure/Comedy animes.

Ichigo Kurosaki VAs Masakazu Morita
Ichigo is the 15 year old main character of the anime who can see and comunicate with ghosts. he is forced to become a death god and fight evil spirits to protect himself, family and friends, who mean alot to him.
Rukia Kuchiki VAs Fumiko Orikasa
Rukia is a death god, but after being injured Ichigo obtains her death god powers. She is forced to live in the human world in a "faux body" (human body) and attend school with Ichigo. She lives in Ichigo's closet.
Uryuu Ishida VAs Noriaki Sugiyama
Ishida attends the same school as Ichigo, he is quiet and doesn't really like interacting with other people. He is a Quincy, a race of people who fought against hollows (evil spirits). He hates death gods.
Inoue Orihime VAs Yuki Matsuoka
Inoue is one of Ichigo's classmates. She is freindly and kind, but can also be quite naive and stupid, although she usually gets very high grades at school. She has a very unique power, which involves the hairpins she always wears.
Sado "Chad" Yasutora VAs Hiroki Yasumoto
Although he looks much older, Chad is a teenager who attends school with Ichigo. He is very strong and tough, but is usually kind and un-talkative. His main power is an armor that grows on his right arm, which makes him even more stronger.
Kon VAs Mitsuaki Madono
Kon is an artificial soul who takes Ichigo's human form when Ichigo is in death god form. When he's not inhabiting Ichigo's body, he usually takes the form of a lion plushie and lives with Ichigo.
Arisawa Tatsuki VAs Arisawa Tatsuki
Tatsuki is Ichigo's classmate and an old friend, and best friends with Inoue. She is very tomboyish and likes karate.
Karin Kurosaki VAs Rie Kugimiya
Karin is Ichigo's little sister who can also see ghosts, but still says she doesnt believe in them. Very Tomboyish.
Yuzu Kurosaki VAs Tomoe Sakuragawa
Yuzu is Ichigo's youngest sister. She cannot see ghosts, but wishes she could.
Isshin Kurosaki VAs Toshiyuki Morikawa
Isshin is the father of Ichigo, Karin and Yuzu, he is a doctor and runs the clinic.
Renji Abarai VAs Kentarou Itou
Renji is a death god and grew up with Rukia, they became death gods together.
Kisuke Urahara VAs Shinichiro Miki
Urahara runs a shop selling death god items, the Urura shop. Always wears sandles and a hat, giving him the nickname "Sandle-Hat." Helped train Ichigo.
Ganju Shiba VAs Wataru Takagi
Ganju hates death gods and lives in a village around the Soul Society.
Hanatarou Yamada VAs ??
Hanatarou is a member of the weakest death god divison, the higher division death gods don't like him much and he is forced to do chores, like cleaning.
Gin Ichimaru is almost always smiling, he is a former death god captain of the 3rd division.
Shihôin Yoruichi can take the form of a black cat. She helped train Chad and Inoue and also Ichigo.
Jinta Hanakari works at the Uraha shop, he loves baseball and he also seems to like bulling Ururu, who works with him.
Ururu is a shy girl who works at the Uraha shop with Jinta, although she is 3 years younger she is alot more mature than him.
Byakuya Kuchiki is a powerful death god and captain of the 6th squad, Rukia's older brother (she was adopted by his family.)
Ikkaku Madarame is a death god from one of the strongest divisions.
Hitsugaya Tôshirô is the captain of the 10th division, he is the youngest to become a captain and is known as a boy genius.
Zaraki is captain of the 11th division, he hates having to think in battle.
Kusajishi is the lieutenant of the 11th division, she is alot stronger than she looks.
Yumichika Ayasegawa, a very vain death god who considers himself very beautiful.
