The Beatles

The Beatles Cartoon Series was made from 1965 to 1969 and ran in syndication for nearly 20 years afterwards. There are 39 episodes and each shares its title with a Beatles song which is sung along the course of the show. There were two ten minute episodes on one full one, with two sing-a-longs between them. They aired on Saturday morning but moved to Sunday in 1969.

Each episode depicted, who else, the Beatles on some crazy adventure. Along the way, they'd meet women (who one of them would fall for), mad scientists, magicians, and other characters. Of course, the main characters were John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Lance Percival and Paul Frees did the voices of the four Liverpudlians. Humor on the show was actually pretty Beatleish (ex. John making kissy faces at people is supposed to be like the "Give us a kiss" line in the Beatles film "A Hard Day's Night"). The show was really quite cute.

Characters:

John: The self-proclaimed leader of the Beatles and the most intellectual. John's the Beatle who keeps the others in line although he can get pretty out of line himself. He doesn't exactly take the title "leader" seriously and flirts with nearly every girl the band runs into. John plays rythm guitar. But he's very smart and was called a "scientific genius" in high school.
Speaking voice: Paul Frees
Singing voice: John Lennon

Paul: The most poised and stylish Beatle. Paul is very good when it comes to speaking (grammar, spelling, etc.). He also is very popular with the women, especially a Japanese ghost lady named Anna. If John can't up come with an idea, it's always Paul that does. He's very good with love songs and plays the piano well. Paul also plays the bass.
Speaking voice: Lance Percival
Singing voice: Paul McCartney

George: Although George is called "The Quiet Beatle" he gets some of the funniest jokes. George is the one that will be quiet for most of an episode but when he talks, it's good. George plays lead guitar and, when he can, the sitar. George is also very wise. He often gives advice to the other fabs.
Speaking voice: Paul Frees
Singing voice: George Harrison

Ringo: The silly one. If anyone is going to tell a flat out stupid but hilarious joke in this show, it's Ringo. Bad things often happen to the oldest Beatle and Ringo's also the one that usually gets the group in trouble. In the end, dispite his mistakes, Ringo means good, though. Ringo can be recognized by his enormous nose and he plays the drums.
Speaking voice: Lance Percival
Singing voice: Ringo Starr

Alan Watermain: Alan Watermain is the only other character on the show to appear more than once. He's a well known expert on jungle animals and a hunter.
Speaking voice: ?
