Balto II: Wolf Quest is the first of two sequels to the 1995 movie Balto. It was released in the USA at the beginning of 2002, seven years after the original. The direct-to-video movie is set after the events of the first movie. The storyline is much different, focusing more on Aleu, Balto's daughter. The movie also tells us a bit about Balto's wolf heritage, with a small appearance from his mother, Aniu.
The movie begins with Balto having a dream; a raven is following him and he runs into a pack of wolves. After being woken by Boris, the two set off to visit Jenna. They arrive at Jenna's house to find that she has given birth to Balto's pups. All of the pups look just like Jenna except one of them, Aleu, who looks more like Balto. One year later, all the pups have been adopted, all except Aleu because she looks too much like a wolf. While playing with Muk and Luk she is mistaken for a wolf by a hunter and almost shot, so Balto is forced to tell Aleu the truth about her wolf heritage, and she finally realizes why she was never wanted by humans. She runs away to find where she belongs. Balto goes after her, hoping to bring her back, and soon the two meet up.
Balto and Aleu run into a wolf pack, led by the wise old wolf, Nava. Nava tells the pack that the caribou (deer-like animals, main prey of the wolf pack) will not be returning for the winter, nor any other winter, and they must cross the sea to an island to follow the caribou or die from starvation. Nava plans to cross the sea on an ice flow. Neju, who would like to be leader of the pack, tells them that this is impossible, but it could turn out to be a matter of life or death.

The half wolf/half dog hero from Nome is back! In this movie Balto's very overprotective of his daughter Aleu, and when she runs always he goes after her to bring her back. Balto has been having strange dreams about a Raven, Wolves and Caribou, does it mean something important?
Aleu VAs Lacey Chabert
Aleu is Balto's adventurous daughter, who wants to be adopted by a human. After finding out that she's part wolf she runs away to find somewhere where she belongs.
Nava VAs David Carradine
Nava is a wise old wolf, and leader of the wolf pack introduced in the movie.
Niju VAs Mark Hamill
Niju is the main villain of the movie, who wants to take over Nava's pack.
Aniu VAs Monnae Michaell
Aniu is the mysterious white wolf who follows Balto's journey and reveals at the end that she is Balto's mother.
Jenna VAs Jodi Benson
Jenna gives birth to Balto's 6 pups, but other than that, Jenna plays a very little role in the movie.
Boris VAs Charles Fleischer
Boris also plays a much smaller role. He understands that this is a journey that Balto and Aleu must make together, so doesn't go with Balto to find Aleu.
Muk and Luk VAs Kevin Schon
Muk and Luk, the polar bear cubs are back. All they really do it this movie is play.
The Fox VAs Mary Kay Bergman
Balto helps the fox out of a trap in exchange for her helping him find Aleu, she does help... but not in they way Balto was thinking. She pushes him into a waterfall, which results in Balto finding Aleu's scent.
Muru VAs Peter MacNicol
Muru is Aleu's "spirit guide."
Nuk, Yak and Sumac VAs Yak= Jeff Bennett, Nuk= Joe Alaskey, Sumac= Rob Paulsen
Nuk, Yak and Sumac are Niju's three followers.
Dingo VAs Nicolette Little
Dingo is one of the pups who were named, (s)he(?) was first to get adopted.
Saba VAs Melanie Spore
Saba was another one of the pups who were actually named.
The Other Pups
Balto and Jenna's other, un-named pups. (The pup with the same markings as Jenna, Dingo and Saba was named Kodi in Balto III: Wings of Change.)
The Raven
The mysterious Raven follows Balto around and even appears in his dream. It is most likely that the Raven is Aniu the white wolf. (We see the Raven land, Balto turns around and Aniu is standing where it landed.)
