Two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII, the world of Gaia is still recovering from the effects of Jenova. Geostigma, an incurable disease that has lashes out onto many of the survivors of meteor, is breaking the hearts of those it infects. Cloud Strife, an ex-mercenary turned courier, has broken contact with his former friends and family and begins to give in to the memories of those he failed in the past. The past, however, is not dormant, and when foes old and new emerge to threaten those he loves, Cloud is forced to confront his memories and pick up his sword once more.
