Pongo is a Dalmatian living happily with his human, Roger Radcliff, a struggling songwriter. He only needs one thing to make life perfect, and he spots her one day - Perdita, a lovely female Dalmatian. He introduces himself to Perdita, and at the same time "introduces" Roger to Perdita's human, the equally lovely Anita. A double wedding soon follows, and shortly afterward, a group of spotted pups are born.
The happiness of the family is marred by the appearance of Anita's old schoolmate, the arrogant, wealthy Cruella DeVil. Cruella wants a Dalmatian fur coat, and is enraged when Roger and Anita flatly refuse to sell her the puppies. So she has them kidnapped. Pongo and Perdita send out a call for help on the "twilight bark", a kind of speedy doggie grapevine. This is picked up by a horse, a dog, and a cat at a remote farm where Cruella is hiding not only Pongo and Perdita's pups, but a lot more Dalmatian puppies - 99 in all. Every one of which she intends to kill, skin, and have made into a coat!!
With the help of the other animals, and a great deal of courage, Pongo and Perdita rescue their pups, as well as all the rest, and Roger and Anita end up with 101 Dalmatians, a couple of new songs, and a "Dalmatian Plantation".
This movie is vintage Disney, with great animation, cute songs (especially Roger's ode to Cruella), and charming characters - except, of course, for Cruella and her henchmen. There's fast action, humor, adventure, love, and family - in short, all the things that make Disney movies so entertaining.

The hero of the movie, Pongo is not only handsome, but a good dad. He also

Cate Bauer)
The gentle Perdita is sometimes more wise than her mate. She's just as brave,
too.

of the puppies happily. But it's her old school friend who creates their
danger.
