101 Dalmatians

Pongo is a Dalmatian living happily with his human, Roger Radcliff, a struggling songwriter. He only needs one thing to make life perfect, and he spots her one day - Perdita, a lovely female Dalmatian. He introduces himself to Perdita, and at the same time "introduces" Roger to Perdita's human, the equally lovely Anita. A double wedding soon follows, and shortly afterward, a group of spotted pups are born.

The happiness of the family is marred by the appearance of Anita's old schoolmate, the arrogant, wealthy Cruella DeVil. Cruella wants a Dalmatian fur coat, and is enraged when Roger and Anita flatly refuse to sell her the puppies. So she has them kidnapped. Pongo and Perdita send out a call for help on the "twilight bark", a kind of speedy doggie grapevine. This is picked up by a horse, a dog, and a cat at a remote farm where Cruella is hiding not only Pongo and Perdita's pups, but a lot more Dalmatian puppies - 99 in all. Every one of which she intends to kill, skin, and have made into a coat!!

With the help of the other animals, and a great deal of courage, Pongo and Perdita rescue their pups, as well as all the rest, and Roger and Anita end up with 101 Dalmatians, a couple of new songs, and a "Dalmatian Plantation".

This movie is vintage Disney, with great animation, cute songs (especially Roger's ode to Cruella), and charming characters - except, of course, for Cruella and her henchmen. There's fast action, humor, adventure, love, and family - in short, all the things that make Disney movies so entertaining.

Main Characters:

The puppies
The innocent victims of Cruella's kidnapping. Most aren't named, which isn't too surprising, but some of the names are Patch, Lucky, Rolly, Spotty, and Freckles.

Pongo (VA Rod Taylor)
The hero of the movie, Pongo is not only handsome, but a good dad. He also proves to be a brave and dashing rescuer when his family is kidnapped.

Perdita (VA Cate Bauer)
The gentle Perdita is sometimes more wise than her mate. She's just as brave, too.

Roger Radcliff (VA Ben Wright)
A songwriter who's having a hard time making ends meet, Roger nevertheless is generous enough to adopt 99 puppies. He also has a good sense of humor, as witnessed by his song about Cruella.

Anita (VA Lisa Davis)
Anita wisely falls for Roger and marries him, and she takes up the responsibility of the puppies happily. But it's her old school friend who creates their danger.

Cruella DeVil (VA Betty Lou Gerson)
Cruella is the villainess of the movie, and she's a splendid one. She kidnaps 99 innocent puppies with the intention of making a coat out of their fur.

Other Characters:

Jasper and Horace (VAs J. Pat O'Malley and Frederick Worlock)
Cruella's henchmen, who do all her dirty work for her.

Nanny (VA Martha Wentworth)
The Radcliff's maid, who looks after the puppies before they're kidnapped.

The Colonel, the Captain, and Sergeant Tibbs (VAs J. Pat O'Malley, Thurl Ravenscroft, and David Frankham)
These three are a dog, a horse, and a cat living on a remote farm. They find and help rescue the puppies.
