Kat the Webmistress' Harem

Warning ... there are spoilers in this harem

Ver. 3, revised so that the harem is sort-of in order by love/like/lust, rather than just tossed in there as I discover them.

About the "Harem Moments" ~ it's really impossible in almost all cases to decide when a character leaps into harem status. Usually it's a gradual thing, where aspects of the character appeal to me more and more, and then I start thinking about him. Then when I start fantasizing about him, that's when he becomes harem material. But for this harem, I tried to pick the one moment when the process first began.

Last update 04/13/08: Added Shinichi Chiaki.

#1 ~ Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop) ~ I've been infatuated with this guy for ages, and no sign of it letting up. And I still don't know exactly why. However, he has many good points. Except for his smoking habit, this guy is as cool as they come. (OK, he is so cool, he even makes smoking look good.) Yet, like a cat, as relaxed as he looks, he can spring into instant action. He's got brains, he's got courage, and he's got an appealing touch of melancholy. Plus he's a very human hero, one with a sense of humor who teases his friends. I like that in a man.
Harem moment: During "Stray Dog Strut" when, after seeing him do all the wonderful things he can do, both funny and serious, I heard him wail, "This whole thing gives me a headache!" I was already lusting and falling fast, but that did it.

"You won't need no harem, honey, when I am by your side..." ~ Midnight at the Oasis

However, just in case I do, here are the second-place men of my harem, the ones who will step in whenever Spike is unavailable ~

Seijuro Hiko (Rurouni Kenshin) ~ Now, contrary to what some people think, Hiko is not here because he has great muscles, long gorgeous legs, beautiful long dark hair, and a strong yet refined face. Nor is he here because I like talkative men, although I do and God knows he can talk. Hiko's mostly in my harem because of his wisdom. I love it that he's over 40 and shows that he's gathered a lot experience in his years ~ and learned well from it. OK, the body, hair and face don't hurt...
Harem moment: This came very late, actually. I was already charmed by his elocutionary skills and his good looks, but the moment he made the harem was when I thought they'd killed him off. I was furious! Which sorta gave me a clue.

Jin (Samurai Champloo) ~ In all the craziness of this show, one thing leaped out at me pretty quickly, which was that every time this guy appeared on the screen, my estrogen level jumped off the scale. Lean, cool, competent, smart ~ he's got a lot going for him, and I love the way he calmly states even the most outrageous things.
Harem moment: His first fight. I was interested before then, but once I saw him in action, I was hooked for good.

Duo Maxwell (Gundam Wing) ~ I know, everybody likes Duo. I was determined to resist him just for that reason. But I couldn't. With his insouciant personality, his droll sense of humor, and his adorable normalness in a crazed world, he won his way into my heart. And he's another talkative guy, too! He started out in the "Kawaii-ness" section, but in no time at all, he leaped right up here.
Harem moment: Practically from his first appearance in the series, but the clincher was when he said about Heero, “He just goes and puts a broken bone together...Man! That just totally grosses me out just thinkin' about it!”

Ginko (Mushi-shi) ~ For once, an anime guy with white hair who isn't a villain! Ginko's role in life is helping people (specifically, people who are tangled up with "mushi"), which is appealing, and he's a wanderer as well. He's got a calm, mature nature, but doesn't lack a sense of humor, and despite staying detached, he still manages to show great compassion. And I like the oddness of his Western clothes - he's got a cute... um, he looks good in them, I mean.
Harem moment: It took a long time for me to decide to include Ginko here, so I'm not sure exactly when it happened. By the middle of the series, I was in over my head without even realizing it.

Kyouya Ootori (Ouran High School Host Club) ~ I have half the Host Club in this harem, but Kyouya remains my favorite, even if by a narrow margin. He's cool, he's brilliant, he has a kind heart and a sense of honor, and he has a somewhat perverted sense of humor. He's also not a morning person (to say the least!), so we have something in common besides wearing glasses. (There is just something sexy about bishies in glasses...)
Harem moment: I actually liked him before I saw the show, just from his AL page. However, watching the show, the moment I decided it was time to revise the harem was when I saw him with his shirt off. (Jeez, I'm shallow.)

Takashi "Mori" Morinozuka (Ouran High School Host Club) ~ It was tough trying to choose between Mori and Kyouya. Mori's quiet competence, ironic sense of humor, and loyalty to Honey were all really appealing. Of course, the fact that he's got a great body also was a factor. *heh*
Harem moment: When I saw him wielding a sword. Very sexy.

The others:

Guys I'd want to marry
If I ever wanted to get married, these are some harem members who I'd take home to meet my folks

Captain Souzou Sagara (Rurouni Kenshin) ~ This guy made a pretty big impact on me, given what a short time he actually appears in the series! I keep trying to put my finger on what appeals to me, specifically, but there are too many things. He's brave, virtuous, philosophical, and a leader. Of course, he is very pretty, too.
Harem moment: When I realized I was sitting around planning out a story to resurrect him.

Skywise (Elfquest) ~ I've been crazy about this character since Elfquest first came out in the 80s. A charmer, a dreamer, and a loyal friend, he's intelligent and has an amazingly flexible mind. Not only that, but he's soooo cute. And he's an elf!
Harem moment: It's too long ago to remember the exact moment, but I know it was in the first book, and the very first time I got a taste of his sense of humor.

Mullin Shetland (Last Exile) ~ Mullin is the ultimate survivor, and I'm really glad his amazing luck lasted through the whole series. A soldier that desperate to survive is one you might think cowardly, but Mullin proves many times that he not only has physical courage, but moral courage as well.
Harem moment: The very first moment I saw him, praying desperately for the bullets to miss him. I just had to love a guy like that!

Robin (Teen Titans) ~ OK, he's a bit young to be thinking about marriage right now, but how about going steady? I just adore this young hero. He's a natural leader, of the kind that leads by example, and he manages all his superhero deeds without special powers, just his strength, skill, and agility.
Harem moment: In the first episode with Darkfire, when he left the others to find Starfire on the roof and try to discover what was wrong with her.

Ferio (Magic Knight Rayearth) ~ Ferio caught my attention from the moment he entered MKR. Not just because he's so cute, either, or because he had a mysterious background (although those things didn't hurt!). It was more that he is a nice guy with good basic morals and plenty of courage. By the time I knew the truth about him, he was already my prince.
Harem moment: Almost from the first moment I saw him. He was just so appealing! I only needed to wait until I was sure he actually was a good guy before putting him here.

Ichirou "Icchan" Mihara (Angelic Layer) ~ There are quite a few bishies in this anime, but Icchan was the only one I wanted to keep. He was soooo strange, he freaked me out at first, being so majorly weird. But once I got to know him, I also got to adore him.
Harem moment: Near the end of the story, when I realized that he wanted to be Misaki's father.

Bear (.hack//SIGN) ~ Another guy with muscles, and a good warrior, but that's not why he's here (no it's not! ~ OK, it didn't hurt). What I liked best about Bear is that he's a genuinely nice guy and changes, during the show, in a good way.
Harem moment: When I discovered that he'd taken on responsibility for Tsukasa offline.

Sokka (Avatar: The Last Airbender) ~ Yes, he can be silly and teenagerish. Yes, he's comic relief. But under all that, he's loyal, incredibly brave, and surprisingly intelligent. It took me a while to really appreciate him, but now I adore him.
Harem moment: At the airbender's temple, when he showed how brilliant he really is. Katara and Aang just rolled their eyes, and when that made me mad, I realized how much I love the guy.

Pure lust objects
These guys are in my harem primarily for the estrogen surge I get when I see them

Shan Yu (Mulan) ~ The ultimate testosterone rush. Shan Yu was my #1 harem man for a long, long time. The sex appeal that oozes from this guy is enough to melt my knees just thinking about it. As my friend Tian Ning says, "Don't sit too close to the screen, you might get pregnant!" Add to that all those muscles, his athletic, predator's grace, and that voice...! I'm a little puddle on the ground.
Harem moment: Oh, honey, the minute he came onto the screen.

Vicious(Cowboy Bebop) ~ What the heck?? OK, he isn't exactly the kind of guy you usually want in a harem, but he does have some interesting qualities. He's well-built, graceful, athletic, intelligent, and tenacious, and he has a real sense of style. I just have to remember to count my fingers afterward, if I ever offer him my hand... heh. I never planned to bring trouble like Vicious into my nice harem (especially since Spike won't be happy with me), but after all, I'm actually writing a story about him, so I suppose there's something about him that appeals strongly to me. Scary thought.
Harem moment: Truthfully, when I started to write about him. Once I got into his head, I was hooked.

Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) ~ Mysterious and weird, this guy drifted into my sights as a swirl of tattered, blood-red cloak, and I was hooked. I knew nothing about his troubled past or about why he has that vampirish look going for him, but discovering those things turned my instant lust into fascination. To seal it, despite his looks, he turns out to be a good guy!
Harem moment: When he asked Tifa where he could buy a phone. Adding humor to the mix made it perfect.

Shannon Casull (Scrapped Princess ) ~ A formidable, versatile fighter and a caring, loyal, and sometimes bratty older brother, Shannon worked his way into my heart quickly, despite his caustic personality. I value his loyalty, and oh my, he is pretty.
Harem moment: I was interested almost from the minute I saw him, but he didn't tip the scales for me until I saw him smile. After that, seeing his more human side, I was a goner.

Shigure Sohma (Fruits Basket) ~ He's pretty. He's funny. He's witty and occasionally wise. He's a writer. And yes, he's an occasional pervert. I especially love it that, although he often acts like a child, he knows when he's doing it and can be an adult whenever he must. I've spent a lot of time daydreaming about hugging him, cuddling him in his dog form, and then, when he changes back... well, you get the picture.
Harem moment: From the first scene he was in, I liked him. He was so sweet to Tohru, and had such an air of balance and humor about him. But the clincher was seeing him looking so sad during Momiji's story. Then I knew for sure there was much more to him than he let on.

Kyo Sohma (Fruits Basket) ~ It was difficult to decide where to put Kyo, because he's young enough to be kawaii, yet fierce enough to be a warrior. But really, since the reason that he's here at all is because I have a difficult time not drooling every time I see his long, lean young body, I guess he goes here. I love his hair and those beautiful eyes, as well.
Harem moment: Despite my instant lust for that long, lean young body, I resisted Kyo as a harem choice until I saw him smile at Tohru. Then I fell for his sweetness.

Cyborg 002 / Jet Link (Cyborg Soldier 009) ~ There's something about the sincere, if immature, way that this guy fires into action that makes him sexy to me. Passion is always attractive, even if misdirected at times. He's also loyal, and besides, I love big noses.
Harem moment: When I saw a picture of him on a motorcycle.

Sesshoumaru (Inuyasha) ~ He's not the most lively and friendly of characters, I admit. But man, is he gorgeous. All that long white hair, the beautiful costume, and a very pretty face are an esthetic delight. But what got him in here was when I realized that his cool, unflappable nature didn't stem entirely from a cold, unfeeling heart.
Harem moment: When he wanted to kill Kohaku because of Rin, but didn't, partly out of pride.

Hajime Saitoh (Rurouni Kenshin) ~ I used to swear this guy was never going to get in my harem (ask Sanosuke if you want to know why), but here he is anyway. Whatever I might think of his ruthlessness (my favorite term for him is "cold bastard"), there is no denying he's sexy. Broad shoulders, great legs, yellow wolf's eyes... Yes, too sexy to keep out. Drat. (Don't worry, Sher. I'll only look, I won't touch.)
Harem moment: During the final duel with Shishio, Saitoh's dogged and incredible courage finally won me over.

Goliath (Gargoyles) ~ Goliath is really the hero type, which isn't normally my type. Then why is he in my harem, and in this section? Well, look at the guy. Then look at Shan Yu. Or Hiko. Uh huh. Muscles again. And he runs around almost naked! He is also noble, honorable, tender, and an all-around nice guy, so he deserves a place here.
Harem moment: When he rescued Elisa from her fall off the building. Such big strong arms to be carried in!

The Warriors
OK, I admit it, I'm a sucker for testosterone in action

Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist ) ~ Boy, did I try hard to resist this one. The guy is such a pain! Cold, manipulative, ruthless, sarcastic, authoritarian, so many things I don't like. And he was so mean to Ed! However, as the better side of his character began to be revealed, I forgave him his faults and had to admit to myself that he was definitely sexy.
Harem moment: The scene where he attempts suicide. That made me reassess everything about him.

Leon / Squall (Kingdom Hearts ) ~ Brooding, cocky, like a rebellious kid who thinks he's cool ~ that was my first impression of this guy. But he's got the build and the testosterone factor going for him, not to mention a sexy voice, and he's not as sullen as he seems. After all, he worried about the puppies. How can I resist that?
Harem moment: When I saw him leaning against the wall, arms folded on his chest. So sexy.

Auron (Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts II) ~ When I first saw this character's images, I thought he was both ugly and a villain. Well, I've been wrong before, and I was sure wrong this time. He's a spiritual relative of Hiko's - they have much in common. Besides that, he's a true hero with a tragic history and a deep sense of honor. He's also really good with that big sword and has a very sexy mouth behind that collar.
Harem moment: In the first few seconds of his appearance in KH2, when he smiled so bitterly and stood up to Hades.

Lord Conrad Weller (Kyo Kara Maoh!) ~ In a show full of over-the-top characters, Conrad is the stable and reasonable one. He also combines nobility, loyalty, intelligence, and a sense of humor. The hardest thing about liking Conrad is finding something to criticize! He's the guy you want to have at your side, all the time. Oh yeah, he's also a terrific swordsman.
Harem moment: The first moment I saw him, when he gave the unborn Yuri a name, and I had no clue who he was.

Zechs Marquis / Milliardo Peacecraft (Gundam Wing) ~ Sooooo pretty. Yet a stern and efficient soldier, and a gentleman as well. And what a sense of style. I've never seen anyone look better in a uniform. Not to mention that, like a lot of bishie lovers, I adore that long, silky, pale hair.
Harem moment: This is funny, really, but I wanted him in my harem when I first saw his picture in casual clothes. I just waited until I knew I'd like his personality, too!

Nicholas Wolfwood (Trigun) ~ Those who know me, knew this addition to my court was inevitable. He's just my type ~ dark, lean, talkative, funny, and dangerous. I tried to resist, and there were moments I thought I could, but... here he is anyway, inevitably. And looking good, too.
Harem moment: The first time he knelt down to talk to a kid.

Gaddes (The Vision of Escaflowne) ~ I often like the so-called sidekick better than the hero, and I like lean, dark guys. I also like guys who can lead, fight, and laugh. Gaddes has all of that, and he dresses almost as well as Allan. He didn't have a large role, but it was enough for me to flip for him.
Harem moment: Early in the show, when he gently removed Hitomi from the area of the battle between Van and Allan.

Cassim (Aladdin and the King of Thieves) ~ Aladdin is cute in a rugged sort of way, but he's nothing compared to his dad. Cassim has style, elegance, and sex appeal that Aladdin will just have to grow into. I love his physical strength and grace (do we see a pattern here?), his wonderful voice, his brains, and his sense of ironic humor. He can ride off into the desert with me any day!
Harem moment: Although I was crazy about his looks from the moment he removed his mask, and I loved his voice, he didn't make it into the harem until he sacrificed himself for his son.

Cid Highwind (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) ~ When I saw this guy in Kingdom Hearts, I thought he was funny and appealing, but far from sexy. Reading about his character in the video game made him even more appealing, but I didn't tip over into making him a harem candidate until I actually saw him in action in the FF7 movie. That was when I realized that the cartoony guy with the toothpick was actually lean and cool.
Harem moment: This actually happened long after the movie, when I got curious enough to check his background in the game. He's a dreamer as well as sexy, and that was enough for me!

Cyborg 004 / Albert Heinrich (Cyborg Soldier 009) ~ Wisdom and reason always appeal to me, and 004 is the wisest and most rational of all the cyborgs. I love the way he keeps his cool and his sense of humor, no matter what, and how he helps keep the others keep theirs. He's got a lovely smile, too.
Harem moment: The first time he talked to 009, explaining things to him, I got interested. I just liked his style.

Lantis (Magic Knight Rayearth) ~ This guy was practically created to be a harem member. Tall, well-built, mysterious, a magic swordsman, pretty bangs, violet eyes. Whoa. But what I like best about him is his depth of character.
Harem moment: In the scene when he saw the love between his brother and Emeraude. That's when I first saw into his heart.

D (Vampire Hunter D and Bloodlust) ~ OK, he's got this little problem in that he'll outlive us by a few thousand years. And he definitely has a lot more angst than I usually go for. But he's got all that tall, dark, mysterious thing going on, he's one heck of a fighter, and, underneath it all, he's a really decent guy. (But before I jumped his bones, I'd make him put a glove on that one hand...)
Harem moment: At the end of Bloodlust, when he attended the funeral. Up to then I just thought he was fascinating, but that gesture put him into my harem.

Joe Korso (Titan AE) ~ Maybe it's the testosterone thing again, or maybe I just like guys with complicated morals. But this guy has a body that doesn't quit (those muscles again...), a great gunslinger style, and a way of putting his hands on his hips that (ahem) gets my blood going.
Harem moment: When he spun his weapon and then holstered it, just like an old Western gunslinger. I laughed, but I also fell.

Kawaii-ness
Just simply too darned cute for me to resist

Gourry Gabriev (Slayers) ~ I tried to resist adding this guy to the harem. After all, when I make a list of "qualities I like in a guy," the first one is intelligence. But I've always had a weakness for swordsmen. And I defy you to find anyone more good-natured and loyal! (OK, the muscles don't hurt, either.) He's just adorable.
Harem moment: There wasn't a particular moment, but I had given up trying to resist his goofy sweetness by the end of the third episode.

Sora (Kingdom Hearts ) ~ What a charmer this kid is! He manages to be a typical kid, with his bratty moments, and yet be amazingly sweet, too. He has that earnest, childlike wonder that I love, and he's so open and direct, totally without artifice. And he's a true hero.
Harem moment: See the picture. That was the moment, although not until the second time I played the game.

Wilbur Robinson (Meet the Robinsons) ~ This kid won me over at first with his nimble agility, and then with his fast-talking charm. He may be a liar, but at heart he's an earnest, affectionate, responsible, and generally good kid. Also very cool.
Harem moment: That silly few moments where he leaped out after the paper ball Lewis was tossing.

Tamaki Suoh (Ouran High School Host Club) ~ He really is just as pretty as he believes he is. After that, I have to say that Tamaki's vanity is of the most charming kind. But it wasn't his looks that got him into my harem. What I like best about him is the way his sunny, unsinkably optimistic personality brings out the best in everyone.
Harem moment: During the episode when he met Kyouya, I realized just how special he was.

Keiichi Morisato (Oh My Goddess ) ~ This guy is probably the most underrated hero in animation. I guess he's just too nice, and without the least bit of aggressiveness, to be sexy to most women. But I adore him, and I'd love to have a boyfriend just like him. Despite his good nature, he can make decisions and take responsibility, and I think that gets overlooked.
Harem moment: When he and Belldandy first arrived at their home. That was when I realized that, although he'd seemed like a wimp, he actually had a lot of inner strength.

Yuri Shibuya (Kyo Kara Maoh!) ~ The hapless baseball reject who's flushed into another world to become a demon king, Yuri is, at heart, an adorable person. He's one of the sweetest characters in anime, yet no wimp, and he's got a strong internal morality that makes him much more than just a regular boy. And look at him - he's so cute!
Harem moment: I liked him right away, but it was his stand against the senseless slaughter of humans, in an early episode, when he decided to become the king they called him, that really won me over.

Miroku (Inu-Yasha) ~ This priest is almost girlishly cute ~ but only in appearance. He can definitely fight! He also adds a lot of humor, intelligence and knowledge to the Inu-Yasha group, and he bears a tragic curse with courage. He just has one little flaw... but it's not one I'm going to be too upset about!
Harem moment: When he showed his deep compassion in the ruins of Sango's village.

Clef (Magic Knight Rayearth) ~ Maybe a 700-year-old Master Mage shouldn't be in this section, but Clef is just so cute, I couldn't put him anywhere else. Every time I see him, I just want to hug him. Yet at the same time I respect him. He carries a lot of the burden of decisions and responsibility in Cephiro.
Harem moment: I'm not really sure, but in the first scene. I went "Kawaii!" when I saw him, and then learned he was wise and powerful. That was enough for me!

Miguel (The Road to El Dorado) ~ Not so much a guy I want to jump on, yet way too cute not to put here. He's handsome, yes, very, and charming. But what I love best is his heart. Underneath that con-man's skin is a really nice, compassionate guy.
Harem moment: It took a long time for him to get here, but the moment really came the first time I saw the movie. It was when Miguel went out into the city with a childlike sense of wonder, amazed that everyone loved him and loving everyone, and most of all, when he appreciated the beauty he saw.

Sanosuke Sagara (Rurouni Kenshin) ~ Sano definitely wins the prize for sexiest outfit on a harem member (so naturally I choose a pic where he's not wearing it). He's got a sexy body and can fight well, but he also has something much better ~ under that gruff exterior is a big ol' heart. That, plus his occasional goofy brainlessness, puts him in this section. He's true to his friends and mentors, fights to protect the weak, and is occasionally vulnerable, all qualities that I like.
Harem moment: When, after having the stuffing whupped out of him by Kenshin, he said wryly, "I guess this guy finally beat me."

Daisuke Niwa (DNAngel) ~ Sometimes a character comes along who manages to be good and sweet, yet not cloying. That's Dai. He's one of the most good-natured characters in here. I also loved how he accepted whatever life threw at him and just did the best he could with it, without complaint.
Harem moment: He crept up on me slowly, but the turning point was during the time that he realized he was in love with Riku.

Ascot (Magic Knight Rayearth) ~ Obviously, I mean the teen Ascot. Seeing the boy, I never thought he'd make it here. But as a teen, he proved he'd not only grown taller, but also matured. And his blushing is adorable. But it was his courage ~ not only in rescuing Umi, but even more in how he accepted her rebuff ~ that I love best.
Harem moment: When, blushing, he covered Caldina's mouth. So cute!!

Brooklyn (Gargoyles) ~ OK, so he isn't the typical "kawaii" type. But I still like him here. When I'm not drooling over Goliath, you can always find me smiling at the sight of this "scrawny Gargoyle". He's definitely not too scrawny for my tastes, and he's got an adorable personality.
Harem moment: During the scene in the prison they'd created for Talon and his "clan", when he showed maturity and humor both.

Special guys
These are here because they have some special quality I adore

Shinichi Chiaki (Nodame Cantabile) ~ Even at his most unlovable - and for a long time in this anime, he's admirable but hardly lovable - Chiaki is attractive. He's got that amazing musical talent, and talent is always sexy. But what is great about Chiaki is that he grows and learns, not only about music but about life. The greatest pleasure of this anime for me was watching the changes in him. Oh yeah, and he's gorgeous, too.
Harem moment - It's hard to pick one. I found him attractive from the start, naturally, but it wasn't until he became more human that I felt he should be here. So I would say the moment was when he realized just why Stresemann was a great conductor, and how much he himself had to learn.

Legolas (The Lord of the Rings) ~ What's special about Legolas? Come on, he's an elf! He also has a lovely way of walking, a dancer's step. To me he was the best thing about Bakshi's Lord of the Rings. I loved his shape, his way of moving, his archery, and his voice. Besides, who doesn't love an elf?
Harem moment: My favorite scene with him, outside the Gates of Moria, when he kidded Gimli, "What a people you dwarves are for hiding things. On the gates of your most wond'rous ancient kingdom, you write Speak friend, and enter, and no spell in any language can open the door!"

Clopin (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) ~ This guy's special quality is his dangerous charm. Other than that, I don't know what it is about this guy that got him into my harem. He's skinny, balding, and has a little pot. A cute little pot. (Get a grip, Kat.) Maybe I just love clever, athletic men with beautiful singing voices, mercurial temperaments, amazing talents... oh, yes, those talents... never mind!
Harem moment: When he hit that high note in "The Bells of Notre Dame".

Ulaan ~ Ulaan is a fanfic character in TianNing's story about Shan Yu, The Ger. If I begin to talk about why I like this character, I'll end up writing a story. In fact, I sorta did. He's got a wife, my character Iriltai (aka The Hun Princess), so don't anyone else even think about trying to nab this one!
Harem moment: In an early scene in The Ger, when Shan Yu is teasing him about his marksmanship.

Hatori Sohma (Fruits Basket) ~ I didn't even like Hatori at first. I thought he was creepy. But I slowly grew to love him. He's not my normal type at all, being a quiet, introspective man, but he's a good man and he has a droll sense of humor.
Harem moment: When I saw him sleeping on the couch. He's usually so strong that seeing him vulnerable just went straight to my heart.

Satoshi Hiwatari (DNAngel) ~ My maternal instincts were roused by this guy. I love his looks ~ the pale hair, the sapphire eyes ~ but he didn't appeal to me until I began to suspect that he wasn't what he seemed. He came across originally as a creepy bad guy, but when I began to see that he was a lonely, troubled young man who was actually trying to do the right thing in the only way he could, he began to attract me more and more.
Harem moment: When he begged Krad not to hurt the other kids, and I realized for sure that my instincts were right about him.

Dark Mousey (DNAngel) ~ I tried to resist this guy, just because he was obviously meant to be admired. But eventually he won me over. He's got a great sense of style, even when he's not thieving. But what won me over was not his looks or style, but the fact that he cared so much about Daisuke.
Harem moment: When he committed himself into going into the painting after Dai.

Xelloss (Slayers) ~ The mysterious "trickster priest" has a way of getting a person's attention, but that's not why he's in my harem. He's here because he's such a memorable character, I simply can't get him out of my mind. His special quality is the ability to be devious and creepy without being repulsive.
Harem moment: The day I realized that, despite all the time that had passed since I'd last watched Slayers, Xel was in my fantasies as often as Gourry.

Folken Fanel (The Vision of Escaflowne) ~ Escaflowne is full of interesting men... but this one took a long time to grow on me. I was always interested in him as a character, but he jumped to harem status with one rather, um, stimulating scene. He was edging that way anyway, however, when I got to see him as a teenager, and became intrigued (how did he go from sweet kid to cold villain?). Of course, there's also the wings. I like the wings.
Harem moment: That "stimulating scene" when he nearly but not quite kissed one of his catgirl protegés.

Zagato (Magic Knight Rayearth) ~ As a villain, this guy was boring. Attractive, yes! Love the spiky bangs. But he didn't interest me much until I realized his motive for his actions was his love for Emeraude.
Harem moment: Almost at the end of MKR's first season, when I finally caught on that Zagato wanted to free Emeraude.

Buddies and Heroes
I don't lust after them, I don't want to run off with them, I just want to have them around as friends and guys I admire

Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) ~ It's no surprise to me that Edward became so popular, so fast. He's cute. In fact, he's pretty. He's also got a complex personality, part brattiness, part sarcasm, part humor, part vanity, part compassion. Most of all, I love his love for his brother and his determination to take responsibility for his mistakes. Young he is, but no child. OK, yes, he's also sexy as all get-out.
Harem moment: There's a scene in an early episode where the baddies think he's beaten (literally) and start to haul him off - and he slowly, wickedly smiles. I was crazy about him from the start, but that bit, showing both cleverness and courage, won me over completely.

Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin) ~ Kenshin is both buddy and hero, and he is definitely my favorite in this section, by a long margin. He may not be a lust object for me, exactly, but he's just soooo huggable. And he's pretty, with all that red hair and those gorgeous lavender eyes. He is also a legendary manslayer who does laundry, cooks, babysits (happily), and occasionally gets conked on the head by flying bowls. What appeals to me most is his obvious love of life's simple things. (Don't worry, Zora. I'll only look, I won't touch. I want to live, after all.)
Harem moment: The first time I saw him with the two little girls, Ayame and Suzume.

Prince Ashitaka (Princess Mononoke) ~ Ashitaka is on the "hero" end of the spectrum, and he's as close to a perfect hero as I've ever seen. He's got courage, honor, intelligence, and wisdom and clear vision far beyond his years. As far as being in a harem, this guy seems a bit above lust, if you know what I mean. Until his shirt comes halfway off, anyway... Ahem.
Harem moment: When he gets down and helps the girls work the bellows.

Alphonse Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) ~ Ed and Al are so close, I couldn't have one in here without the other. But Al earns his spot. Where Ed has grown physically, Al is stuck with his little boy voice. But not his little boy attitudes. He's wiser and more patient than his brother, and has a nature almost as sweet as Gourry's. He's got a heart as big as his metal body.
Harem moment: When he sat with Ed, planning their future, and made it plain that he didn't blame Ed for what happened to him.

Inu-Yasha (Inu-Yasha: A Feudal Fairytale) ~ Part dog-demon, part human, all cute. I resisted this guy for a long time because his disposition is that of a spoiled brat, but he grew up a bit and he grew on me. He's got gorgeous hair, fascinating eyebrows, beautiful eyes, a great costume, and the most adorable bare feet I've ever seen. And sometimes, he's a sweetie, as obnoxious as he is.
Harem moment: A clip which showed him walking (barefoot, of course) through a blizzard of cherry blossoms. So pretty!

Van Fanel (The Vision of Escaflowne) ~ I know, I'm robbing the cradle. Again. But I love his courage and his sense of responsibility, and I love the fact that he learns and matures. The fierce warrior ability, soft dark hair, and cute, vulnerable face don't hurt, and neither do those wings.
Harem moment: I'd like to say the first time he lets Hitomi see that he cares for her, but to be honest, it was the first time I saw those wings.

Pacha (The Emperor's New Groove) ~ Every harem needs a teddy bear, and Pacha is mine. He's so cute and cuddly! Plus I'm at an age where I value a guy who can be relied on in any situation, yet still keeps his perspective and sense of humor.
Harem moment: When he tricked the kids into going to bed by cuddling with his wife.

God Only Knows
I have no idea how these guys got in here, but... I don't want them to go away, either

Icarus (Hercules: the TV series) ~ Isn't he cute? (Yes he is.) He's also hilarious. I can't help it, something about this mouthy, insecure little guy just appeals to me. To my motherly instincts, and to some of my non-motherly instincts, too!
Harem moment: In one episode he was discoursing eloquently on the subject of love while diving into a pool. I liked that.

Axel (Kingdom Hearts) ~ He was sort-of a bad guy, but not really. He just wanted to recapture the way his best friend made him feel he had a heart. Axel was funny in a charming, cocky way, with a lot of quotable sayings (like, "Got it memorized?").
Harem moment: When I got all teary as he faded into oblivion. I wanted him to stay! Then I knew I was hooked on the guy.

Milgazia (Slayers) ~ Milgazia is in this section because he only appeared for a few brief scenes in the series. He made a powerful impression on me despite that. Besides being pretty, he had a fascinating character ~ aloof, mysterious, noble, and with a sense of humor. And come on! ~ the guy is a dragon, too!
Harem moment: The first time he smiled.

Pips (Ferngully) ~ OK, so he is a little childish and obnoxious. But in looks and general sex appeal, he beat the heck out of Zach. I wouldn't mind going on a flight with this rainforest fairy.
Harem moment: When he finally stopped acting like a jerk, he showed some courage.

The "If I Were a Guy" Harem
If I were a guy, these are the women who I would think were hot and well worth chasing

Ursula (Kiki's Delivery Service) ~ I don't know if I just like this woman for who she is, or because I identify with her very out-spoken nature and free spirit. Ursula is so real, so easy, and so free from pretension, I'm crazy about her.

Katara (Avatar: The Last Airbender) ~ The virtues of this pretty waterbender took a while to grow on me, but now her kindness, courage, spirit, sense of humor, and maturity are placing her high on my list of favorite heroines. She's the best kind of leader.

Haruhi Fujioka (Ouran High School Host Club) ~ What a breath of fresh air Haruhi is! Her practical nature allows her to keep her head in the silliness of the Host Club, and gives us some hilarious moments. I love how she just can't be fooled, not even by the twins.

Helga Sinclair (Atlantis) ~ She's tough, she's a great shot, and she's sexy as hell. Plus she comes down the chimney if the door is locked. OK, so she isn't the sweetest of women, but she doesn't whine and she takes care of business. And she never quits.

Captain Amelia (Treasure Planet) ~ Sarcastically quick-witted, delightfully British, and remarkably agile, with an outrageously curvaceous figure in thigh-high boots, this feline spacer captured my attention - and my adoration - the moment she appeared on the screen, flying through the rigging.

Akima (Titan A.E.) ~ An underrated character in an underrated film, Akima is smart, skilled, and sarcastically witty. What I love most about her, however, was the way she kept the dream of a true home alive in herself, and instilled it in Cale as well. Without her strength and her belief, he'd never have become a hero.

Presea (Magic Knight Rayearth) ~ A woman who can forge swords is cool enough, but a woman who can forge magic swords is even better. Presea's a nice lady, too, and she's gorgeous in her "goddess" outfit.

Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha) ~ Much more than a pretty face, Kagome is also a young girl of incredible maturity and courage for her years. She is also kind and has one of the sweetest dispositions of any heroine ~ yet she's tough enough to keep Inuyasha in line.

Tifa Lockheart (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) ~ She's tough, both physically and emotionally, yet she has a sweet and caring side. She's lovely, but not in a cute way at all. She has a slow sweet smile. All those add up to quite a package, but Tifa also has a tolerant, patient wisdom.

Utena Tenjou (Revolutionary Girl Utena) ~ She's smart, incredibly brave, and compassionate, she has a sense of humor, and she nicely balances self-confidence with humility. Yet with all these qualities, she still comes across as a nice, normal girl, even if nothing in her life is normal. I admire her as well as like her.

Hitomi Kanzaki (The Vision of Escaflowne) ~ Hitomi's not a beauty - in fact, she's almost plain - but it doesn't take long to figure out why the hot men of Escaflowne fell for her. There's a lot to be said for a heart that's pure and completely without malice, yet Hitomi is no pushover. She's very strong both spiritually and morally.

Belldandy (Oh My Goddess ) ~ Bell is almost too good to be true, and because of that, I took a long time accepting that she belonged here. But I simply can't resist a girl who's so consistently loyal and loving, especially when her love belongs to a good person whom others underrate. I have to admire her, despite the over-sweetness.

Sora Naegino (Kaleido Star ) ~ This girl drove me crazy at first, and still does at times. Her enthusiasm and personality are bubbly and loud enough to be more irritating than cute. But I ended up loving her for that enthusiasm, for her kindness, and for her boundless optimism.

Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) ~ Did you see her in that robe, when Quasimodo tumbled into her tent? And there's all that black hair and those big green eyes, too. And she's smart, witty, and spirited. If I were a guy, I'd have fallen as hard as Frollo did. I just would have been nicer about it.

Sango (Inuyasha) ~ Sango is a demon-hunter with a tragic past, but she bears her fate with an uncomplaining courage that I have to admire. And if I were a guy, once I'd seen this girl in action, I'd sure be trying to bump Miroku out of the picture!

Chel (The Road to El Dorado) ~ Can you say curvaceous? And smart and sassy, too. Plus I like the idea that she desired more than the life she'd been handed, and rather than just whine about her situation, she was willing to risk her life to get what she wanted.

Megara (Hercules) ~ Smart and sassy, just the kind of girl I'd like if I were a guy. Plus she's loyal and will sacrifice anything for you if she loved you. Sure, she's way too skinny, but why hold that against her?

Elisa Maza (Gargoyles) ~ Tough, competent, independent, trustworthy, honorable, and brave. What more can you want in a woman? Oh, looks? - she's got that, too, a terrific combination of races in a trim, athletic package.

Pocahontas (Pocahontas) ~ This woman is just flat-out sexy! She's also good, intelligent, and brave, but who notices that with those legs and that hair in the picture? (OK, I do.)

The Critters
Animated animals can be everything that animated people can! Here are my favorites

The Tramp (Lady and the Tramp) ~ What a dog! (I had to say that.) I like the deep chest and all that insouciant masculinity with the con-man (con-dog?) edge. I can easily imagine myself an animated, pretty little female mutt that can make him forget that prissy cocker spaniel for a while!

Diego (Ice Age) ~ Yes, Manny was nicer and a better person. Er, animal. Anyway. Maybe it's just Denis Leary's voice, or maybe I just love a bad guy gone to the good. Or maybe it was the way he turned out to be mooshy inside without ever becoming weak. I dunno, but I know I'd love to be a lady sabertooth when he was around.

Bagheera (The Jungle Book) ~ Sleek and black, with a sexy voice and a fine sense of responsibility, and compassionate as well. And so adorable when he's trying to be the mature one in a crazy group! I'd love to have this cat leading me through the jungle.

The Beast (Beauty and the Beast) ~ OK, so he's really big and furry, and kissing him might be a tad difficult with those teeth. But he's strong, athletic, feral, and has lots of muscles (here I go again). Add to that a sweet vulnerability, and I simply want to curl up in his shaggy arms.

Jake (The Rescuers Down Under) ~ Insouciant, clever, courageous, resourceful, charming, and cute as heck... what's not to like about this Australian kangaroo rat? And he's got that adorable accent, to boot!

Shere Khan (The Jungle Book) ~ I just love this villain! He's in my harem for his charm and for being a generally cool bad guy. He has a wicked sense of humor, too, and is voiced by the late, great George Sanders. Purrrrrr....

Balto (Balto) ~ As you may have noticed, I respect honesty and courage. Besides, how can anybody resist this sweet, devoted, courageous wolf-dog? Sure, he's not overly blessed in the looks department, but there's no doubt you can depend on him and on his integrity. Plus he's got a great voice and a cute smile.

Ginger (Chicken Run) ~ As I admire Ashitaka, as a pure hero, so I admire Ginger as a heroine. She has such broad vision and courage, and she shows so much care and responsibility toward her friends, even when they don't return the favor.

The loves of my youth

Odie Colognie (King Leonardo and Friends) ~ If you go to his page, the place of honor, you'll see that you owe this entire site to this little guy. He was the idol of my childhood and my very first animated lust object.

Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes) ~ The epitome of cool, at least in furries, and the funniest wabbit ever drawn. Also my childhood hero. How can anyone not be enamoured of this insouciant, clever, unflabbable rabbit?

Schroeder (Peanuts) ~ I've always found talent sexy, even when I was a kid. I have actually never seen the animated Schroeder ~ I fell for the one in the comics. But I used to read every Peanuts comic I could, just to see him.

Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty) ~ When I was a pre-teen, this was what I thought a handsome, sexy guy looked like. He remained my ideal for many years.

Race Bannon (Jonny Quest) ~ Race came along in my later years. Although Phillip remained my "ideal", I definitely thought there was appeal to an older man!
