"Once upon a time..." Back then (before 2004), AL was much bigger and we did a lot more. In fact, it got too big, and I just couldn't keep up with it, even with help from my ALians. Well, not if I wanted to have a life. Most of these features were cut because the interest in them wasn't high enough to justify the commitment in time. If you want a peek at the fun stuff we used to have, here are links to the pages. You'll find some really great stuff there, if you care to take the time to visit.
We used to run two kinds of contests ~ (1) our own versions of the Academy Awards and Emmys, and (2) fan art and fanfiction contests. These were a lot of fun, and I gave them up reluctantly, but they were enormously time-consuming. From the link above you can find a page that'll list all the contests, and there you can see the things we loved, and also some great art and fiction.
This was AL's own award for other animation sites, which were nominated by anyone who had or knew an animation site, and then were voted on by all of us, as to whether they got the award. Do check out the Award Winners page, which has links to the sites that won our award.
We used to do reviews of animated movies and television shows, so we would have the opinions of animation lovers rather than critics. This was one of the parts of the site that I gave up because the interest wasn't equal to the time spent, but I kept the existing reviews, if you'd like to see them.
Profiles of our reviewers. Very few contributed their profiles, so this feature was phased out very early.
We used to have profiles of many of our fans, but this got to be too big to keep doing. Still, if you want to see them, I've kept them for you.
This was just a fun little sidebar, eventually discontinued, where we shared our views on heroes and villains who were mismatched, either in size or power, or both.
Another fun little sidebar that we discontinued, where we talked about shows that would have been great, except... |
