She had been working steady all morning and was more emotionally exsusted than anything else, though it was rarely believed it was tough being a communications operator was tough work. Having about a million different voices yelling in your ears, running emergency calls through and answering to often rude officials who were communicating with the Federation central control was a major pain in the butt at times. Tayla was often credited for her hard work and dedication to the Federation and was even given a raise now and again, but still time and time again she found herself staring out the windows of the central control room often dreaming about what adventures lay beyond the stars. Well that is what she used to know, for she had been the communications operator aboard Captain Gantu's ship before he was retired by order of the Grandcouncilwoman and she was transferred to central control. Tayla sighed as she leaned back in her swivel chair looking over the heads of several of her fellow workers and out into space, once again emrssed in thought. ''I wonder where he is now?" she wondered as she tilted her slender light blue skinned head to one side. She had heard that he had left earlier that morning and no one had heard from him since. Tayla just couldn't believe it, after all his years of loyal service as head of security at the Intergalactic Federation, this place just wasn't going to be the same without him. She had always had a great respect and admiration for her old captain, an admiration so strong that it lead some of her girlfriends to tease her on their breaks about having a bit of a crush on him and how they would make a cute couple. Of course she would just desimss this as silly nonsense, sure she liked him as a leader and even found him abit attractive but she knew that a professional relationship was no place for personal feelings. ''Well where ever he is now, I hope he's doing ok.'' she said to herself as she was quickly snapped out of her thoughts by the loud beeping of a call coming in over her intercom.

Stars whizzed passed his ship's windows like high speed fire flies, gradually slowing down as he came out of hyper space and into what his navigation computer told him was the Kalyot system in which two of the three planets were populated by intelligent life. Gantu steadied the ship into position so he could safely enter the planet's atmosphere. ''Computer,'' he said in a commanding tone ''set course for......what the?!?'' The area of space began to waver about just in front of his field of view as three ominous dark shapes began to materialize out of nowhere. Gantu frowned suspiciously as he was suddenly surrounded by three massive battleships sat around him on all sides, all pointing high powered plasma cannons at him. Gantu didn't like the way this was playing out and tried to leave but one on the dark ships moved quickly before him, blocking his exit. He looked around but couldn't see anyway he could get out, when a sudden beeping sound alerted him to his communication screen just under his nose. ''Greetings Captain Gantu.'' said an unknown voice, pronouncing the ''oo'' sound at the end of his name obnoxiously clear. Gantu growled ''Who is this?" A semilluminated silhouette appeared on the screen of what clearly looked like someone's or something's head and shoulders with two glowing white eyes staring calmly and coolly back at him. ''All in due time my friend.'' the voice said again. ''Who are you and what do you want from me!" Gantu said gruffly as he grew ever more annoyed with the stranger. ''It has come to my attention that you were how we should say were ''laid off'' from your former place of employment. Am I correct?" the stranger asked. Gantu folded his muscular arms across his chest and grumbled to himself refusing to answer. ''Ah how one does learn these things.'' the stranger grinned through his words. Slamming his fist down on the armrest of his seat Gantu roared at the screen. ''Get to the point!!'' ''As I will,'' the stranger said calmly not at all shaken by the mighty captain's outburst. '' I have a proposition for you, but first you will come with us.'' Gantu grinned calmly as he flipped a switch up on one of his steering handles to reveal a small red button that would activate his laser guns.

''I don't think so.'' he said as his thumbed the button with confidant air. ''I wouldn't try that if I were you.'' the stranger said in a more serious tone '' you'll be star splinters before you even push the trigger and besides soldiers of your talents are worth more to me alive than dead. The job I'm offering has many benefits and you will be paid handsomely.'' ''And if I still refuse?" Gantu asked suspiciously. ''You already know the answer to that my friend.'' the stranger smirked.
