He couldn't believe it had ended this way; as if the humiliation of losing Experiment 626 once wasn't bad enough. The second time the little monster had eluded him had not only cost him his ship and the chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the Council, but also his career. The former Captain stood like a statue in his quarters staring blankly out the window into the vast starry reaches of space, the answers to his many questions seemingly to vanish into the blackness. What was he to do now, just hang around here even though the Grand councilwoman had made it quite clear that she no longer was in need of his services? or just disappear into the far reaches of space and look for work else where. No, Gantu clamped his eyes shut and shook his head, he couldn't just go slink off into the blue not if he had one shred of self-respect left or go back to the Council begging for his job back. That would deliver the final blow to his already brutally damaged pride.
Even so, he knew he had to leave he just couldn't face his crew after what happened. So grabbing his blaster and gear he turned and walked out the door and doing so with dignity. Stepping out into the corridor Gantu made his way to the docking bay where a ship was waiting for him. As he walked he encountered two to three of his old crew members who quickly scuttled to get out of the giant creature's way; even though he wasn't their Captain any more he still carried an aura of fear and respect about him and even some passing soldiers tried not to qwake beneath his iron gaze. Gantu stopped suddenly as a trolley of large metal crates passed across his path, he growled softly in annoyance more at the fact that he had about a dozen eyes boring into him at once and the soft whisperings of shock and disbelief at his dismissal as head of security at the Intergalactic Federation HQ wasn't helping his mood either. Finally he could take it no longer, feeling his temper rise he whirled around and bellowed in his strong male voice. ''WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT!!!'' His voice rumbled the walkways and walls as everything swiftly fell silent, Gantu swept his eyes over the hall behind him as several soldiers huddled together seeing nothing but the coldness of space in those icy blue eyes. Grumbling to himself Gantu turned to see that the trolley had long since gone, not at all changing the speed of his stride he continued his way to the docking bay. A small smirk curled the corners of his mouth, he certainly gave them something to whisper about.
The docking bay was always a bustle with ships coming and going to their many different destinations the action rarely slowed here. Gantu made his way to a large gray ship which almost looked like the old one he'd traveled to earth in before it got destroyed. It was an older model and it had seen better days but as long as it got him away from here and to where he wanted to go, he didn't care. Throwing his gear in Gantu climbed inside and settled down into the cockpit before closing the canopy, fingers flew over buttons as he flipped switches causing the ship to hum and whir to life. Moving the steering handles slowly Gantu moved the ship towards the open hanger door and prepared for launch just as the engines began to fire up. Pushing down on a large green button the engines roared to full power, launching the gray craft into space. Like a sliver bird the ship flew slowly away from Federation HQ, flipping a few more switches Gantu started his H-drive to make the jump to hyper space.
