OK, calm down. Yeah, this is a big site. When I updated this page in March 2008, it had 5,938 pages and 45,719 images. Way big. If you want to see it all, I'm flattered, but most likely you're thinking, "Are you out of your mind? I have a life!"
First, let me say welcome, I'm glad you're here. AL isn't quite like most sites. It's been called a database for animation, and like most databases, it's not meant to be browsed through like a book. Instead, I planned it to be a place where you - the animation fan - can share your thoughts and favorite things with other fans. Everything on this site has been contributed by fans. So I want your contributions!
But first, you want to explore, preferably without getting lost. Let me make a couple of suggestions.
The main page lists ... um, most of what's on the site. But before you go clicking on all those links, check out the things in the Spotlight. That'll give you a sample of the two main parts, the heart of AL - the pages for characters and shows.
Another idea is to jump in with a specific character or show in mind. Do you have a favorite? Use the search feature on the main page. Or just go directly to the Characters and Shows pages ~ if your favorite has a page created for them, it'll be linked from there. Don't see your favorite? Why not make a page for him/her/it?
Once you've gotten your feet wet, then, if you're interested, check out the fanfic and fan art. After that, you should be more comfortable and might want to see all the other places, too. A little at a time, naturally.
You might also try the forum. Lots of nice, friendly people there!
Or you might check out What's New, which has the most recent additions to the site, and usually has a good sampling of what's here.
If you do get lost, the logo at the top of each page, as well as the link "Home" on the page, will take you back to the main page.
Just remember, AL is something like a 3-ton chocolate chip cookie. Nobody expects you to eat the whole thing in one bite! Just nibble away. If you enjoy yourself, then maybe you'll stick around. And maybe you'll even want to add your own touch to the site ~ because this site is built by all the fans, not just by me.
