Jack's Christmas

Jack sighed as he looked out the window of his friend’s, the Scotsman’s, house. Winter had settled in early and Jack needed a place to stay until the weather improved. As he looked out the window he heard something behind him. He turned around to see the Scotsman’s wife walking around the house, decorating with wreaths, holly, and other holiday items as well.
“Ah, ‘tis the season to be jolly,” she said as she placed a stuffed snowman on the table. She looked up to see Jack looking out the window. “What is wrong lass? Ya look upset.” She said.
“It is nothing,” he said as he turned away from the Scotsman’s wife.
“I wonder what’s eating him,” she thought as watched Jack looking outside.
A few minutes later the door opened, and the Scotsman came in with a huge tree behind him.
“I’m back with the tree!” said the Scotsman, dragging the tree with him as he walked into the house.
“Oh good, you got the tree! Why not you put it up there, dear?” said his wife.
“Sure thing honey dumpling,” he said as he carried the tree to the center of the room. When he was done he noticed Jack was starring out the window, looking upset. “Hey lad, why not you give me a hand with this thing?” He said.
Jack looked at his friend, sighed a bit, and got up to help.
“What can I do to help?” said Jack to the Scotsman.
“Get the tree stand, lad. It’s right over there,” said the Scotsman as he tried to hold up the tree and point to where the stand lay.
Jack walked over to where his friend pointed, picked up the stand, and brought it back.
“Now what?” Jack asked helpfully.
“Place it right there lad, and stand back!”
Jack placed the stand down on the ground and moved away. The Scotsman lifted the tree and placed the tree on the stand.
“There, now that is a pretties you never seen in your life, huh lad?”
“Yes,” said Jack, as his tone of voice changed a little.
“What’s wrong lad?” The Scotsman asked again. “You look a bit upset.”
“It is nothing,” Jack said as he went to the window and sat back down.
The Scotsman went over to his wife and whispered to her:
“Something is wrong with the lad.”
“I know, but what?” she answered to her husband.
“I don’t know, my love, but I will find out why!”
The Scotsman went over to where Jack sat and pulled up a chair to sit in.
“Mind if I join you, lad?” said the Scotsman to Jack.
Jack looked at the Scotsman, and then turned to the window.
“Is there something wrong, Jack?” he asked Jack. “You’re acting kinda weird,”
“I am fine, it’s just... never mind,” said Jack.
“Oh, come now lad, what’s been bothering you? You can tell me.”
Jack turned to his friend and spoke, “I miss my family.”
“You do lad? Well, why not you go and see them.”
“It is not that easy. Remember that I told you that I was not from this time?”
“Oh, now I remember. Sorry, lad,” he said.
Jack had told the Scotsman, long ago when they first met, that he was not from this time, but instead from the past, thrown into the future by Aku.
“You really do miss them, huh lad?” The Scotsman asked.
“Yes I do.” Jack replied sadly.

That night the Scotsman and his wife were talking while Jack was fast asleep.
“Poor lad,” she said.
“I, I wish something for him, but what?” said the Scotsman. “Wait I got an idea.”
“What do you mean, husband?” said the Scotsman’s wife.
“Dear, I want you to keep the lad busy for a few days while I’m gone.” He said as went to pack a few things.
“And where are you going?”
“To see some old friends about an old favor they owe me. Trust me.”
“Alright, but run off like last time.” She said wearily.
“I won’t.”
--------------------------
The next day the Scotsman left early in the morning before Jack woke up, hoping his plan would go off without a hitch. As for Jack, he woke up to see the Scotsman’s wife making breakfast and popping popcorn.
“Good morning, lad. Sleep well?” asked the Scotsman’s wife kindly.
“Yes I did. Tell me, where is your husband?” Jack asked her.
“Oh, he had to get a few things. He will be back in a few days. In the mean time, why not you have some breakfast and help me make popcorn grallen for the tree?”
“That would be great,” he said smiling a bit, “ But I do not know how to...”
The Scotsman’s wife giggled a bit, “Don’t worry lad, I will teach you! First we need string, some thread, and popcorn...”
--------------------------
For the next few days Jack helped out as much as he could. It was Christmas Day when he got a bit worried that his friend had not returned yet.
“Are you sure he is alright out there?” he asked the Scotsman’s wife.
“Ah, my husband can take care of himself! Don’t worry,” she reassured Jack.
Then there was a knock on the door, and Jack reached for his sword.
“Now who can that be?” the Scotsman’s wife said as she made her way to the door.
“Wait,” Jack said cautiously. “It might be one of Aku’s bounty hunters. Stay back.”
“Alright,” she reluctantly said as Jack made his way to the door, hiding behind it as the Scotsman’s wife open it.
“Can I help you?” She asked.
It was none other than the Scotsman himself, in a cheerful mood. “Hello, my love! I’m back! Where’s the lad?”
“Oh, he’s behind the door. He thought you were a bounty hunter.” She said, quite amused. “Lad?” she said to Jack.
Jack came out from behind the door to see his friend standing there in front of him. “Is there a problem?”
“There is no problem, lad! Come on out. I got a surprise for ye,” said the Scotsman to Jack.
“What is it?” asked Jack as he walked outside. When he got there he was shocked and amazed at what he saw. “By the gods...” He whispered in awe.
Jack saw all of his friends that he had met on his journey, from the Woollies to the Butterfly Creatures, they all were there with gifts of all shapes and sizes.
“MERRY CHRISTMAS SAMURAI JACK!!!” they all said together, presenting him with their gifts.
Tears began to fall from Jack’s face as he saw all his dear friends. He turned to the Scotsman and his wife.
“You did this?” Jack said to his friend.
“Aye, lad,” said the Scotsman, smiling widely with his crooked teeth.
Jack smiled as he wiped tears from his eyes. “Thank you, my friend,” Jack looked as his friends and spoke, “Thank you all. Knowing I miss my family dearly, I consider you all part my family. Thank you once more.”
They smiled and thanked Jack for being part of his life and a part of his family.
The End.
