Zack Fair

A member of SOLDIER, Zack was both Cloud's best friend and Aerith's first love prior to the events at Nibelheim, even though Aerith and Cloud didn't know each other at the time. He appears throughout The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, and is the main character in Last Order.
