Wario

Greedy and proud of it is the best way to summarize Wario of the Wario Land games. A relentless treasure hunter with a longtime rivalry with Mario, he has been an anti-hero of sorts in most incarnations, thwarting other bad guys in his endless quest for fame and fortune. He is intensely jealous of Mario, and once stole Mario's private island from him before getting one of his own after looting a pirate clan of their treasure.

More information: Wario has quickly become a mainstay in Nintendo, even gaining his own 'brother,' Waluigi. He's appeared in a vast number of Mario spin-offs, and even has his own series of Adventure Games, as well as the WarioWare series, which is a vast multitude of five second mini-games in one set which, in the game's storyline at least, is run as a gaming company by Wario and his associates.

According to a comic based on Super Mario Land 2 that Nintendo Power ran, Wario's anger towards Mario comes from the fact that, in their childhood, Mario was apparently a bit of a bully towards Wario.

Ironically, in Mario Kart Wii, where the players can ride motorcycles, Wario does not wear his WarioWare outfit there.
