Nell: Oh nonsense! We're every bit as good as the Everglots. I always knew
I deserved much better than a fish merchant's life.

(Victor is at the wedding rehearsal)
Victor: (takes Victoria's hand and leads her to the altar) With this hand,

Pastor Galswells: Three steps! Three! Can you not you not count? Do you not
wish to be married, Master VanDort?

Victor: No!! I meant I do not NOT wish to be married, that is, I want very
much to-(Pastor Galswells hits him on the head with his staff) OW!
Pastor Galswells: Pay attention! Have you even remembered to bring the ring?
Victor: The ring? Yes, of course. (He reaches into his coat and pulls it out...only
to have it slip out of his fingers and roll away on the floor.)
Pastor Galswells: Dropping the ring! This boy doesn't want to get married!
Maudeline Everglot: How disgraceful! (The ring rolls under her dress. Victor
puts his hand under there to get it. Maudeline has a shocked look on her face.)
Victor: Excuse me...got it! (He then smells something burning...the lit candle
he was holding has caught fire on Maudeline's dress! Everyone tries to put
it out. Pastor Galswells simply gives up and shuts the book he's holding.)
(Victor has just arrived in the Land of the Dead with Emily)
General Bonesapart: A toast to the newlyweds!
Victor: Newlyweds?
Emily: Oh, in the woods you said your vows so perfectly! (shows him the ring
on her finger)
Victor: I did? (gasps) I did! (He bangs his head on the table) Wake up! Wake
up! Wake up!
Victor: Since we're, you know, m-married, you should definetly meet my mother.
And my father too! We should go see them right now!
Emily: What a fantastic idea! Where are they buried?
Victor: Well, they're not from around here. (points upward)
Emily: Oh...they're still alive.
(Emily and Victor have just gotten back form the Land of the Living where Emily
found Victor with Victoria)
Emily: You lied to me! Just to get back to that other woman!
Victor: Don't you understand? You're the other woman.
Emily: No! You're married to me! SHE'S the other woman! (starts crying)
Elder Gutknecht: She's got a point.
Emily: And I thought-(sob)-I thought this was all going so well! (cries; her
eye pops out and rolls to Victor's feet)
Victor: (hands her eye back to her) Look, I'm sorry but this just can't work.
Emily: Why not? (takes back eye) It's my eye, isn't it?
Victor: No, your eye is...lovely.
(Elder Gutknecht has just told Emily that the only way she and Victor can be
together is if repeats his vows in the Land of the Living and drink poison,
thus making him dead like her.)
Emily: I could never ask him.
(Victor, who's been istening to this conversation, walks over to Emily)
Victor: You don't have to.
Elder Gutknecht: My boy, if you choose this path, you may never return to the
world above. Do you understand?
Victor: (looks at Emily) I do.
