A character of mystery even to himself, Tsukasa is caught in "The World", a massive RPG game in the series .hack//SIGN, and he is unable to log out and has almost no recollection of his off-line life. In the game, he has powers beyond the rules and attracts a lot of attention, most of it unwanted or even dangerous, but is the captive and pawn of another being who is just a voice to him. During the series, he learns to accept friendship and the help of his friends to unravel his mystery and solve his problem.
