Sephiroth was the most revered member of SOLDIER, an elite warrior of SHIN-RA during Cloud's youth, and Cloud wanted nothing more than to be like him. However, when Sephiroth discovered the JENOVA project and the partial truths about his lineage, he became enraged and destroyed Cloud and Tifa's hometown of Nibelheim before he disappeared. Cloud's memories of what happened at the reactor were confused, and nobody knew what really happened to Sephiroth until Cloud gave him the means to destroy the planet. When Cloud regained his memories, he and the other members of AVALANCHE fought and thought they destroyed Sephiroth - until Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Sephiroth remains one of the most popular characters in the Final Fantasy Series, appearing often throughout The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII in addition to games such as Kingdom Hearts and Eirgheiz.

Sephiroth is the villain of "Final Fantasy VII". Formerly the commander of SOLDIER, Sephiroth was driven mad by Jenova's influence and became intent on destroying the planet in the name of Jenova. To do this, he plans on obtaining the black materia and summoning Meteor to fall down upon the planet, crush it, and then absorb its lifestream to become all-powerful.

Sephiroth is just awesome. A powerful soldier or SHINRA turns out to be more than it seems. He plans to use all the planet's energy to become a god and destroy the planet with the power of a meteor. Also, he messes with Cloud's head, making him a major advesary for the kind hearted soldier. When I played FFVII when I was just a kid, I admired Sephiroth, and his significance in the game impressed me a lot. Long live Sephiroth, and he's also a tough boss to beat in the Kingdom Hearts Games.
