Pluto was originally created as Mickey's faithful companion for Walt Disney's cartoon shorts, but he eventually became a character who had his own cartoons.

In the "Kingdom Hearts" game series, Pluto is Mickey's loyal pet and has been trained to travel via the 'dark corridor' to help with his master's goal. This eventually leads him to Destiny Islands where he meet Kairi, who he takes an immediate liking to. For the most part of "Kingdom Hearts II", Pluto travels with Kairi wherever she goes, becoming to her what Donald and Goofy are to Sora.
