The King in Disney's Cinderella is a pompous, naive man who insists his son, the Prince, have a grand ball for his return to the kingdom - and pick a bride from the young ladies present. The King wants nothing more than to have a bunch of grandchildren to play with, and he leaves the important stuff to his fumbling right-hand-man, the Grand Duke.
