The hero of Brother Bear, Kenai starts out as an affectionate, generally nice, but far too cocky and irresponsible teenager. He want to be a man as soon as possible, but is carefree and irresponsible and far from mature. When his attitude costs him the life of his oldest brother and gets him turned into a bear, he sees life from the eyes of a "monster". With the help of the cub Koda, he grows up and achieves the power of his totem, "the bear of love."
