Cinderella's Fairy Godmother appears when Cinderella thinks there is no possible way left for her to go to the royal ball. With a bit of magic and "bibbity bobbity boo", the Fairy Godmother turns Cinderella's rags into riches, including a pair of famous glass slippers, and whisks her off to the party. The only stipulation is that Cinderella be home by midnight, for that is when the spell breaks, and she becomes a kitchen girl once more.
