Orphaned when the Sector 7 Plate fell, Denzil was found in Aerith's church and raised by Cloud and Tifa in the newly-constructed Seventh Heaven following the events of the game. In Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Denzil is one of many suffering from geostigma.

Most of the information about Denzil was not revealed in the movie, but was expanded in the Ultimania novella "On the Way to a Smile" (Sounds like a Crest commercial, don't it?).
