The Beast/Prince Ruskin d'Auvergnon

Bad-tempered and selfish, this young prince from Disney's Beauty and the Beast was magically turned into a monstrous Beast, doomed to remain a beast unless he could get someone to love him before a magic rose died.  He imprisoned the lovely Belle, and when they fell in love, he became a nice guy and was eventually returned to his human form.

Comments:

The Beast from the movie Beauty and the Beast was a great character. His only soft spot being Belle he is otherwise cold, arrogant, inteligent and powerful.I liked him as a bitter man.His love for Belle works great. His furius look when he fights ank kills Gaston is what I like to remember from this movie. But his turning into a human again!I just hated it.Gaston was the best male example of human in the whole movie and the Beast was way ahaid of him in body and mind. Why turn him into a weakling?Nevertheless he is one of the best Disney characters. ~ Anon.

Something different:

Beast

One mistake changed my life.
I didn’t realise
That coldness could do so much.
I never knew that
Beauty could be found in the most ugly of things.
And I have found out
That it can’t.
I really felt strange around her.
I felt an emotion I had never experienced.
I’d never felt this way before.
She was kind, understanding,
And beautiful.
When she glanced at me with her brown eyes,
It seemed as if she was looking at me
From the inside.
And I felt puzzled.
How could she look at me in that way?
Couldn’t she see that I was gruesome?
I was a hideous monster.
But when she touched me gently,
And spoke kindly,
I felt as if she saw me in a different way.
And for the first time,
I realised what I felt for her.
The new emotion.
I thought everything was going so well.
I didn’t want to let her go.
I didn’t want her to leave.
But she would never be happy.
She would always be locked up in misery.
Like I am.
I knew what the feeling was.
For the first time,
I felt love for someone.
I loved her.
If only I could tell her the truth.
Who I really am.
If only she would stay so I could tell her.
Who I once was.
But then everything would be lost.
I still couldn’t care.
The only thing I care about losing
Is Belle.
But it’s over.
If only I could turn back the time.
If only I could change the way things happened.
I might as well face it.
It’s hopeless.

Favorite quotes:

Beast: So, you've come to stare at the beast, have you??
Maurice: Please, I meant no harm! I just needed a place to stay.
Beast: I'll give you a place to stay...

(Beast enters the cell where Belle is crying)
Belle: You didn't even let me say goodbye. I'll never see him again...and I didn't get to say goodbye.
(The Beast starts to feel bad.)
Beast:...I'll show you to your room.
Belle: My room? But I thought--
Beast: You wanna stay in the tower?
Belle: No.
Beast: Then follow me.

Now if you need anything, my servants will attend you. (Lumiere whispers to him to invite her to dinner.) You will...join me for dinner. That's not a request!"

Beast: It's no use. She's so beautiful, and I'm...well look at me!
(Lumiere shrugs his shoulders.)
Mrs. Potts: Oh, you must help her to see past all that.
Beast: I don't know how.

"I ask nicely, but she refuses. What does she want me to do, beg? (He picks up the magic mirror.) Show me the girl. (The mirror reveals the Wardobe trying to convinve Belle to give the Beast a chance. He sets down the mirror.) I'm just fooling myself. She'll never see me as anything...but a monster. It's hopeless."

(Belle is trying to help the Beast with his wounds.)
Beast: That hurts!
Belle: If you hold still it wouldn't hurt as much!
Beast: Well if you hadn't run away, this wouldn't have happened!
Belle: Well if you hadn't frightened me I wouldn't have run away!
(The Beast is at a loss for words at this outburst, but thinks of a good comeback.)
Beast: Well you shouldn't have been in the West Wing!
Belle: Well you should learn to control your temper! (The Beast can't think of what to say to this.) Now hold still. This might sting a little...by the way, thank you for saving my life.
Beast: (surprised by this statement, he speaks tenderly) You're welcome.

Lumiere: You look so...so...
Beast: (has pigtails and bows in his hair)...stupid.

(Belle sees her lost father in the mirror. The Beast stares at the rose in deep thought and realizes what he must do.)
Beast: Then...then you must go to him.
Belle: What did you say?
Beast: I release you. You are no longer my prisoner.
Belle: You mean...I'm free?
Beast: Yes.
Belle: Oh thank you! Hold on Papa, I'm on my way! (She remembers that she still has the mirror and turns to give it back to him.)
Beast: Take it with you, so you'll always have a way to look back...and remember me.

Beast: I let her go.
Cogsworth: Yes, splen-- you what? How could you do that?
Beast: I had to.
Cogsworth: But..WHY?
Beast: Because...I love her.

Mrs. Potts: What shall we do, master?
Beast: It doesn't matter now...just let them come.

"At least I got to see you one last time..."
