A manic, sometimes pathetic, and funny character from Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, Batty was the subject of human scientific experiments. He befriends Crysta and Zak and helps them save her world, despite his distrust of all humans.

Why Batty Makes a Good Role Model
Batty Koda makes a good role model for many reasons. First, and perhaps most obviously, he does the best he can with what he has. Second, he is a very courageous bat. He saves his friends at least twice in the movie, and four times in the book, each time valiantly risking his life. Also, he would have to be brave to escape from humans. (Brave and smart.) This brings us to the third reason he makes a good role model: although he may not look like it, he is intelligent. He can see what humans would do to the rainforest. He has a knack for being in the right (and wrong) place at the right time. He can do some pretty good flying, after the first few tries. He cares about what happens to those around him. If you prove that his opinion about you is wrong, he's willing to offer a wing in friendship. He steadfastly trusts his own intuition. Besides all this, he will let you know if you're doing something dangerous and try to prevent you from carrying out your foolhardy plan (if you're his friend, anyway) but if you're bound and determined to do it, he will support and protect you in every way possible. He is loyal to his friends and does everything he can to keep them and his home safe. And besides all that, he has a great supply of funny remarks!~ Macaroni
