Aelita is a virtual AI program trapped inside of Lyoko, the virtual world in Code Lyoko. Only she has the power to deactivate XANA's Lyoko towers and end his attacks on earth, making her a constant target for XANA's monsters. Jeremie constantly searched for a way to devirtualize her out of Lyoko in the show's first season and ultimately succeeded. Now a student at Kadik, Aelita is slowly regaining her lost memory and discovering the connection she shares with Lyoko's mysterious creator, Franz Hopper.

Later in the series, Aelita discovered that she was the daughter of Franz Hopper. Mr. Hopper had created Lyoko and fled there with Aelita to escape people who wanted Lyoko as their own. Mr. Hopper disappeared in Lyoko, telling Aelita to stay in the Tower, which she didn't. Aelita went out of the Tower, and was attacked by XANA's robots, but quickly went back into the Tower. Her memory soon got erased when the supercomputer shut down.
