I found this movie one of the most disappointing
of the Scooby-Doo films. Sure, the animation was good, and the color was beautiful,
but it was the character development that threw me off. First of all, Scott
Innes sounded half drunk doing Scooby's voice. Scoobs sounded too "human"
- he lost that cute little growl in his tone. Daphne was kind of snappy. Velma
was WAY too brainy, even for her character. And Fred was a little on the dumb
side, which I believe that he is a smart young man. Daphne also seemed too skinny
- major mistake. And also - what's with Crystal and Amber? As soon as they moved
into the scene: Boom! The movie all went downhill. The camera seemed to continuously
"follow" Scooby and Shaggy everywhere. It got extremely boring, noticing
that Fred and the girls hadn't gotten enough screen time. Why did only Scooby
and Shaggy have the best line? Scooby and Shaggy get abducted by aliens? Scooby
and Shaggy this, Scooby and Shaggy that! Isn't it about time for a change? The
songs were very kiddish - I have the soundtrack to prove it, and the songs were
very dull, with only Scooby and Shaggy singing. Booooring! The villian development
was poor - the aliens weren't even real! Just those people in masks - are we
seeing an old pattern? I thought Warner Brothers had gotten over that old format.
But this movie was definitely a poor excuse for a Scooby-Doo film. It was like
seeing a 70 minute episode of "Scooby-Doo! Where Are You!" If I had
the chance to see this movie again, sure it's good for a rainy day, but not
catchy enough to keep my interest. ~Ireland Icefire
