Reviews for Princess Mononoke

Spoilers
OK, everyone, if you haven't seen this movie, go buy it now. That's right
I said buy it. Princess Mononoke is my favorite movie of all time and here's
why.
The script is the most complex and interesting I've ever seen in any movie,
period. The animation is gorgeous with lots of cool 3D effects that never look
out of place. Every character is developed well, and the "villains" feel like
real people instead of 2-dimensional evil people bent on taking over the world.
The score is excellent and the sound effects compliment the action perfectly
even when they are subtle. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a movie so whole-heartedly.
I could go on about plot, but I'll leave that to your viewing. Just go see
it! Now! You won't regret it.

OH MY GOSH!!! This is the best movie!! If you haven't seen it, rent it, borrow
it, buy it, DO ANYTHING!!! Just see it!!! It is the best anime I have seen in
a while and it has very good dubbing affects. No choppy movements at all like
some animes. GO SEE IT!!!

This is probably the most beautifully animated movie of all time. The plot
is incredible, and the pace of the movie is perfect. I highly recommend this
movie to any one who likes great, original plots and who doesn't mind bloodshed.

The animation in this film was absolutely stunning,
I was drooling at it throughout the whole film. The music was also beautiful.
But the most important thing, the story and characters, disappointed me.Ashitaka
was hot, but that's about all there was to him. He was kinda.....too kind. Sure,
he did kill some people, but he didn't have much temper in him. He was pretty
bland. San was left in the dark, not much was told of her. I would have liked
to learn more about her, since the whole movie was even named after her. Lady
Eboshi wasn't as great as I thought she would be. I kinda liked Jiko actually,
given that he was as
ugly as a troll's butt.;PThe story? Well, which story? There were like 10 stories
to follow at the same time. Way too much to focus on there. There were many loose
ends and you didn't know which one they now wanted to focus more on. The story
was about a wolf princess, but did we learn much about her? No. There was a cursed
warrior looking for a cure, but in the end, it was unclear as to WHAT exactly
cured him and why. Okay, you can say that that's one of the things left for the
viewer to figure out, but if they had such symbolical and difficult turns left
for the viewer to guess, then why were some very simple and clear things explained
like the audience wouldn't understand them?Okay, then there was a story twist
about the deer god losing his head and having it returned, then there was the
story of the gods and the humans being at war with each other and on top of that,
the humans were fighting other humans for reasons that were left unclear. Maybe
it's just me, but I found the whole thing very confusing. I think they should
have focused on one or storylines and left the rest out. The climaxes were also
badly paced, it took the excitement out of them. We had just barely learned that
there was a girl living with the wolves, when she already appeared to battle with
the leader of the humans (Eboshi). We had just witnessed the upsetting death of
a boar god and Moro (whom we also never learn much about, thus I didn't get attached
to her) when already the Nightwalker loses his head and another climax is at hand.
Give me some pace here, people! Climax, beginning, middle, climax, beginning of
another story twist, climax, more middle, another story twist, climax, a new storyline,
middle, climax, ending, climax, ending. Toooooo confusing!
BUT, the animation and music make
up for the confusing-ness (I created a word monster, yay! ^_~ ) of the plot,
thus rating the film an 8. Not bad at all, even though I had expected to rate
it higher because of all the hype I've been hearing about the movie.
