Even though a mixed bag as animated movies go, Ice Age's flaws
didn't stop me from having a good time watching it. The characters were
endearing and spunky, and the jokes were hilarious, even if some of it
was juvenile. The antics of the squirrel were the best part, but they
certainly didn't carry the movie. There were lots of other things to
laugh at. While some of the humor is typical, some of the other jokes hint
at a level of wit and cheekiness most kids won't get.
The movie's wit and spunk elevates itself above the plodding Dinosaur.
The movie's straightfoward plot, though, ultimately limits itself.
While the characters are endearing, late in the movie, they suffer
unconvincing conventions. However, if you want to watch a movie just to laugh
and have a good time, then look no further than Ice Age. Just don't
expect the charm of The Emperor's New Groove or the wit of Shrek and
Chicken Run.

This movie was pretty good, but it just didn't sit right with
me. Maybe I'm a stickler for eyecandy or something to that effect, so
bare with me. Ice Age had many things working for it: A good,
straightforward plot and good, endearing characters. The humor, in my opinion,
not as funny as Shrek or The Emperor's New Groove, still held its own.
This movie is a definate for family films, as there's not much to
scare/confuse youngin's. However, for the older crowd, this movie's alright,
but listen to Mario. Movies like Chicken Run, The Emperor's New Groove
or even Shrek will entertain more.
Animation wise, I have to criticize. The animals were alright, but the
humans (who we barely spend any time with) are eyesores. And the
baby--the peice central to the plot--that has got to be one of the worst
animated designs I've ever seen. (Not every day you see a human with
proportions like Tweety Bird).
When seeing this movie, don't have high expectations, don't have low
expectations. Watch it expecting to see good, clean humor and a
straightforward plot.
All in all, it was a good film, it just didn't appeal to me.
