Spoilers
One of the things that Hanna-Barbara was famous for was
churning out movies that got together the whole gang from the old animated
shorts (Yogi Bear, Boo-Boo, Snagglepuss, etc) for an adventure. Most
were kind of sappy.
This is not one of those movies.
The setting is the Old West, California during the Gold Rush. Two-Bit
is a boomtown inhabited by such personalities as Hokey Wolf, Yogi and
Boo-Boo, Snagglepuss, Quickdraw McGraw and Hokey Wolf. And of course,
Huckleberry Hound, the reluctant sheriff who's been charged with
bringing the Dalton gang to justice. This movie is a direct spoof of old
spaghetti westerns, particularly Clint Eastwood's "The Man With No Name"
trilogy.
I'd reccommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of the old-school
Hanna-Barbera, and especially anyone who is a fan of Huckleberry Hound.
Its nice to see ol' Huck get top billing in a movie after many years of
service to H-B, as well as finally get the girl in the form of the
Indian maid Desert Flower.
