Reviews for Ducktales the Movie

By Dimadick Spoilers

Ducktales was among the best Disney's Tv series mainly because it borrowed characters and ideas from the Disney comics tradition established on 1930.Characters like Scrooge McDuck,Flintheart Glomgold and Magica De Spell had decades of developing before their appearance in the series while some new characters like Webby and Mr.McQuack were rather fine. The First few episodes were the best and they fited together as a movie.Disney should have noticed the reasons of the series success. But no this movie places Scrooge,Huey,Dewey,Louie and Webby against Merlock an immortal magician borned before the fall of the Atlantean Empire on about 9000 BC.But the wizard doesn't appeared to have learned much over the course of 11000 years. He used his magic powers for every stupid reason he could thing so and depended on a jinni.A jinni, you know a creature of Arab mythologie made of fire or air, supernatural creature inferior to angels and devils. Those creatures have free will to decide if their actions are going to be "evil"or "good" and can be trapped or used by those who posses magic. But the jinni of this movie is a smart-mouth kid who grants each master three wishes.Sound familiar? This was supposed to be Aladdin's jinn particular case not a rule for all jinn.By the way Merlock is defeated way to easily, the jinn loses his powers and though he mentions he can grant partial immortality to the one asking none of the Duck thinks about it.They all waste their wishes. This movies appears the Ducks as nothing more than lucky fools!Merlock is an obsessed hippi more than a poewerful magician! The jinni is a disgrace! The only character who is at his best during the entire movie is Dijon the whiningh Arab thief who is not a worthy rival for just about anybody.Watch it only if you want to see an average movie with lots of wasted potential.
