A Bug's Life, a wonderful adorable film about an ant, named Flik, who seems to be a few steps ahead of the colony always inventing things to make it better. But, one time when his invention, the harvester, knocks down the offering stone that has food for grasshoppers, he gets in trouble. But then, he thinks that he should go find warriors to defend them. But he accidently hires newly fired circus bugs.
This is a wonderful film for the
whole family. Jokes kids and adults will get. With a wonderful voice cast! Comedy,
adventure, excitement. As I said, a family film.
Bug's Life is one of the many Disney/Pixar films that deserves that Oscar for best Animated Feature(unfortunately, they didn't have it back then). Wanna know why? Here's the lowdown:
A Bug's Life is a Computer Animated Movie, and it doesn't really show. That's a good thing. It's very realistic in the settings, props, and characters(Other than the ants with only 4 limbs, Pixar wanted them to be more human-like not to scare little kids). The movie is very beautifully animated, and there are little inside jokes just about everywhere.
The movie is about a misfit ant in an ant colony, namely Flik(voiced by Dave Foley), who is harvesting along with the rest of the colony for the 'offering': a gathering of food for a greedy gang of grasshoppers, led by the ferocious Hopper(voiced by Kevin Spacey). And when everyone is rushed inside whn the gang is coming, Flik's harvester slows him down, and He ends up destroying the offering. When he gets the big Idea to go to bug city(a pile of boxes and debris under a trailer) to find help, he suceeds...but messes up yet again when he unwillingly brings back some ex-circus preformers. And when things are finally about to get better, they get worse again and Flik is banished from the colony by Queen-to-be Princess Atta(voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus). But the gang returns, and there's not enough food for them. They take over, and start to take out an evil plan. It's up to Princess Dot(voiced by Hatden Pentiere, oh how cute!), Flik's only fan, to learn how to fly and bring Flik back to the colony.
However, FLik is too let down to return. It seems that Dot is the only one to bring him back, and it is that moment that Flik has the greatest realization in his entire life, and decides that only he can defeat the greedy gang.
Will Flik, the misfit inventor ant, save his colony? I'm not telling. Go get the movie. ...NOW.
And stick around in the credits,
too. There's a little something that not to many people know about. ;D
