Reviews for Aladdin and the King of Thieves

By Sammy H Spoilers

This is probably my favorite direct-to-video. The plot revolves around Aladdin and Jasmine's wedding, and the discovery of Aladdin's father, the marvelous Cassim. This movie is much better than "The Return of Jafar," although I really did like that movie, and is a few steps behind the original. The songs are great, especially Out of Thin Air, In or Out, and the Arabian Nights reprise (it was wonderful to hear Ashman and Menken's original ending to Aladdin make it into the sequel), and the score is also very good. The characters are still as great as ever, and it is wonderful to hear Robin Williams back as Genie. The best part about this film has to be Cassim. I could go on forever about how much I love his sense on humor, amazing voice, sex appeal and whatnot... but I don't want this review to be too long :) The part of the movie that was the worst though, has to be the way the villain was portrayed ... he really wasn't used at all. Sa'luk was a good character, but totally underused IMO. The ending was also great, with Cassim leaving with Iago by his side (My two Aladdin favs. together... ) Well, to sum it all up, Aladdin and the King of Thieves is a great movie with a great plot, a great ending and great characters (Cassim :) ). It's just too bad that this movie signified the end of the Aladdin movies and series ... but we never know, maybe one day Aladdin will reemerge...hopefully.
