Sometimes you see an animated film and think, "Gee, that was great, but..." or "You know, that would have been a lot better if...".Quite often an otherwise good film is marred by a few minor flaws, or even just one, which keep it from making your list of All-Time Greats or 10 Best. This is particularly true in animation, which is still struggling for recognition as an art form rather than kiddie entertainment.
Here are a few examples.
Warning! - There is negative criticism here, so if you are sensitive about your favorite movies, don't read any further.
Aladdin. The Genie is great! But if Alladin was that smart, he'd lend the lamp to Jasmine, so she could wish he was turned into a Prince again, then she'd give him the lamp back and he'd free the Genie. And the sultan's palace is so empty, with just a few guards, and no servants at all. Where are the girls with feather fans and the servants bringing plates with food to the Sultan? Ok, Jasmine is independent, but she's a PRINCESS! She should have at least one personal parlormaid!! ~ Silver Lady
Aladdin. Aladdin is one of my all time favorites! I always watch it when I just feel like laughing or singing (that sounded stupid, but go along with me). Jasmine was great, really original. But, she was the only strong female character in the whole movie! Too many movies are like that. You have the good guy, the bad guy, the funny guy, the best friend (usually a guy) and then the love interest. Well, Jas did handle it all pretty well, being the only female on board. *one more good point about this movie: Jafar. (: * ~ Greek Geek
Aladdin & the Prince of Thieves. OKay, I'm sorry...I absoutly adore the first movie, and LOVE the secound one (even if their animation was a bit...bad), but why did they feel it nessissary to do a THRID? 'Specially with that Cassim fellow (and yes, I do like him...But why does he have to be Aladdin's DAD?) ...I think this hatrid for the movie comes for Jafar Not being in it... I liked the story line though, and i reallyed did like the 40 theives, and their little song. ~ Her Majesty the Penguin Queen
Anastasia. A great movie that could have been a bit better. The animation was very good IMO but the character development could have been better, especially with Rasputin. ~ Roaming Tigress
Anastasia. Why, oh why did they have to start messing with history? Couldn't they just come up with an original princess story, instead of turning every historical detail upside down? And Rasputin was SO lame! ~ JessKat
Anastasia. A film with animation just as beautiful and vibrant as many of the recent Disney films. More character development could have improved it, however; particularly with the villain. What were the his motives? What did Rasputian gain by killing Anastasia's family and attempting to kill her as well? Plus, this is pretty heavy stuff for a film that seems to include the usual silliness about villains and their goofy, abused little sidekicks. (Bartok)
Anastasia. The music was beautiful, the 'sets' were lavish, and Dimitri was adorable. Unfortunately, that's where all the wonderfulness stops. Rasputin was so unbelievably evil, and the supernatural powers were unconvincing. Also, naming that annoying bat Bartok was absolute sacrilege. ~ Demon Pixie
Anastasia.the plot was good , great animation and backgrounds why did they name her anya. the title of the movie is anastaia it makes no sense. why did they make her give up her crown. she could have kept it and dimitri. ~ brad
Anastasia. Gee, I really loved the story(however skewed it was from history) and I LOVED the romance between Anya and Dmitri, but I could have done without the magical beasts and the whole plot involving Rasputin. I didn't like the finale in which the bushes come to life or whatever. It just didn't fit.Plus the songs should have been a little more memorable. All in all,a cute movie, but not a great movie. ~ Zezolla
Anastasia. As much as I loved the movie and the music, I HATE how they make Resputan evil. If people know their history, it is so obvious that Resputan was a freind. Plus, since they just had to make Resputan evil,he looked too scary. I mean, I had nightmares!!!! ~ Laurel
Antz. This movie turned my dad's relationship with movies for the worse when he saw it. The humor was okay, I have to admit, but everything else was alittle off. The animation was rushed to beat A Bug's Life(in which they stole the idea from, I've heard), and it really shows. The voices are acceptable, but all you hear is person, person, person. You can't hear the character if you know who the person doing the voice is. It really stinks. Though the shoe-rescue scene was okay, and alittle funny, it's kind of stupid at parts. The movie is called A KID'S movie! And you see beheaded ants, ants burnt to a crisp, etc.! I'm glad it's rated PG. Don't see this movie unless you are a COMPLETELY devoted Dreamworks fan. I recomend A Bug's Life a lot more, since it's more colorful and much better in every way possible. ~ Gina
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Hi y'all I'm from Texas! I just love this site. Anyway,no one has commented on this movie,eh? I really liked it. I liked the fact that there was more than one strong female characters.good going! Anyway, the movie could have been better if it was directed alittle less at adolescent boys. Too many explosions. And that old lady (i can't remember her name but she was my favorite)looked like she was from the 1940s not 1910s. ~ Clio the Muse
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Gah!!!! Almost no songs, and no kiss scene! Where have i seen this before? Disney, what's the matter? did your animaters forget how to draw two charecters locking lips in a passionate kiss? I noticed that TENG does not have a kiss, Mulan doesn't get to smooch on her man, and even in Hercules (which has it's own shrine in my bedroom) had a kiss that wasn't open mouthed! i'm heart broken, these are usually the best scenes in the movies! ok, back to atlantis, even when they were talking in english, you could hardly understand what they were saying.i did like the movie, though, Kida and Helga kicked butt! later people! (: ~ Greek Geek
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I really liked the movie and thought that it was cool, but I was a bit dissapointed that it seemed short and that it seemed hurried at parts and it didn't really have a big scene that was action packed. It seemed a bit jumpy at parts too. But the animation was great and it was really interesting to see people's thoughts of Atlantis in a movie! ~ PieChild
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Vinny needed a girlfriend... that's all there is to it. ~ Fuse
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Atlantis: The Lost Empire, eh, the animation was very good; as always with Disney, but lacks in a good storyline...that and it looked too much like Nadia. Blue crystal, the lost city of atlantis, girl with dark skin that can control the power of atlantis? o_O; Waaaay to much like Nadia, ¬_¬; I think Disney's running out of ideas. Poo.... ~ Zara
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I the moive was good but you know i loved it the first time i saw it when it was called stargate. Yep its almost exactly like stargate even down to the main charector and the first scene is way to similar its like its right from the stargate book. Its still good but disney needs to stop copying ideas but hey if they make money why should they care. ~ Mage
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I loved Atlantis. It was a movie where I could actually not dislike all the men! But Mole was always getting abused by the womnen in that movie. What the (*deleted*) is that about?! Does he ask for such treatment? I think not! And, even though I hate her steenkin' guts, Fuse is right-- Vinny does need a girlfriend. A hot one at that, like maybe some Atlantean woman or somethin'... and that's another thing; how the Heck does Milo of all people get Kida's attention, and yet Vinny's left all alone? ~ Cacomixl
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. A good movie, lots of action and spectacular scenes, but too many fiddlin' errors in the details! Just one example: Dr. Sweet says he was drafted during the Spanish-American War...and there was no draft in 1898. In fact, there was no draft for the U. S. Army from 1863 to 1917; everybody in the Army and Navy back then was a either regular or a volunteer. ~ RPSmyers
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I have to say this was one of my fav disney movies, but some things were kinda unbelievable: Did they really have subs like that Ulysses ship back in 1914??? And why is Kida so darn skinny!!! Not to mention the fact that the people of Atlantis couldn't even read their own language!!! And I don't care what anyone says, Vinny Santorini was THE main character in that movie! ;) He really does need a girlfriend, and i am sooooo up for the job! Bring it on!!! ~ Rosalita
Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Okay, I love disney, and this movie did rock, however... What the crap is up with that animation?! Okay, yes, the backgrounds did look awesome but people's fingers are not frickin' rectangles, people! I sincerely wish that Disney would get it back together and start with the animation that actually looked good, such as the way they drew Beaty and the Beast. On the other hand, i Luved mole and do want to know what his story was. Vinny was my favorite! He is sooo awesome! ~ Rei
Balto. I love Balto , but there could have been more character development for Steele. I can't think of a reason why he hated Balto like he did. ~ Jackie/FidgetFan
Balto. Balto was just too boring of a character. I was almost cheering for Steele all the time, simply because he was more interesting. Come on, after so much of getting bitten, barked at, kicked with stones, etc. ANY dog would attack his oppressor. But noooo, not Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes! ~ JessKat
Balto. It could had been a much better film. They transformed a real fact in the old cliche (the rejected-by-everyone guy whom proofs them his own value). And the worse is Steele, the villain. Anyone else noticed he looks like Scar (Lion King) and behaves just like Gaston??? Well, the part when Balto assumes his wolf inheritance is beautiful, as the part when Jenna uses the broken glasses to give him the town directions. ~ Silver Lady
Balto. I love the idea of it. I did NOT like Jenna, she wasn't necessary. Instead, they should have concentrated on the Steele vs. Balto conflict, and the Balto vs. himself one. I tried to dislike the polar bears, I did...but they got me. Phil Collins as the little one, it killed me. The scene where Balto recognizes his wolf heritage was one of the best scenes in animated history. ~ K Malkin
Balto. They should have given balto more of a mean streak, or an edge. He was just too nice. Jenna was weak, because she saw the goodness in Balto from the start, instead being made to see it over time. She should have also been Steele's girlfriend and should have also treated balto mean, until he made her see that he was much more than his wolf heritage. Aside from that, it was a good film. ~ gianluca de duonni
Bambi. Long, tedious, very dull. The look is goreous, but it's like a 75 minute long wildlife painting, it doesn't go anywhere. ~ Auburn Red
Batman:SubZero. A pretty good movie, but it lacked some more epic scope.Mr. Freeze kidnaps Barbara Gordon, but there's no city in danger,no big gambles other than Barbara's life. There are many episodes of the animated series more exciting.Anyway, the emotive drama was well handled, and the computer FX fantastic.Very good indeed, but Mask of the Phantasm is much better. ~ OverMaster
The Batman/Superman Movie. This was a great animated film, but a few things marred it. A couple plot holes (how did Kent suspect the Joker before he even knew Batman was in town?) were passable, since it took more than a few viewings to find them, but I found that Bruce Wayne was a little too open to falling in love with Lois Lane. It would be more interesting if he was slowly attracted to her, began debating with himself, and got emotional about it like in "Mask of the Phantsm". Still, the film is great and recommended. ~ Holmesian
Beauty and the Beast. This is with out a doubt the BEST disney movie ever...just 4 words: give Gaston a chance! ~ Amy
Beauty and the Beast. Oh, people... Fine movie. Wonderful movie! Why did the Beast turn into a "handsom Prince" at the end. It would have been much better if he had stayed beastly. What are we teachig our kids? ~ Angel
Beauty and the Beast. Great GREAT move...makes me cry cause I miss my disney filled childhod!! My only question is, if the beast was a prince, he couldnt have been more than 17 or 18 when he was cursed. so for 3-4 years, he just stopped his kingdom???Where are the subjets and why havent they noticed the prince is gone? dont tell me all the subjects lived in the castle? Also im sick of people saying things about how the beast should have stayed a beast and we send a bad message to our kids with this movie. Thats bull! We all grew up, since snow white, with the same kinds of images and movies, and we turned out okay (knowing that this isnt all that accurate) but in reality, belle DID pick the nice guy ove the popular guy NOT KNOWKING his beauty (meassage on inner beauty!) also, Belle was beautiful, but still outcasted. (beauty isnt everything) and, ended up a princess! Good things CAN come to good people! ~ Michelle
Beauty and the Beast's Enchanted Christmas. I liked the musical number when Belle passes through the books' illustrations, and the sequence of her rescue in the frozen lake. But hated that part wich shows Beast's transformation (he looked like Incredible Hulk, and it was quite different from what was told in the first film. ~ Silver Lady
Beetlejuice. Ok, the show was great, and the characters were really well done. But there is one problem; make the cartoon more related to the movie. Where's Juno, Otho, and the Maitlands? The cartoon sounds as if these people didn't exist. I love Beetlejuice, but please make it more
like the movie. ~ adamspvaBlood: The Last Vampire. Blood is a beautiful work, with some of the best animation around, but it had some glaring flaws. First of all, it's *extremely* short, which didn't allow for much character development (though what there was was excellent). And the ending was just... lacking. Though we should all rejoice that it has sequel written all over it. ~ Kitty
Blue Submarine No. 6. Loved it, but was a bit confused. I forgot the character's names but can remember their appearances so work with me here. They should have accentuated on the relationship of the fish-girl with the shark-mutant. Why did the shark-mutant have Arnold Schwartzenager's body (sp?) but a 4 year old's voice. Did the human girl fall in love with the human guy? Awesome but had some loose ends. Time for a sequel! ~ Sheena
Cardcaptor Sakura. oh my goodness!! Can you say " butchered anime" ? WB had a chance to bring a wonderful, beautiful show over to the states and what do they do? They ruin it, that's what. The only thing that is the same is the art. ~ Red Rose
Cats Don't Dance. I loved everything about this movie... except for the songs. We're supposed to get the feeling that these are extremely talented animals but it's hard to imagine that with such bad songs that they sing. ~ Squirrelperson
Chicken Run. Great animation. Great characters. Toooo sloooow. ~Mario
Chicken Run. Somehow with all the praising I heard beforehand about the movie I expected it to be a lot more funnier. I don't remember really laughing in the cinema at all, merely smiling or occasionally chuckling sometimes. ~ JessKat
Cowboy Bebop. In the end Spike dies. I love the show and I think Spikes on the the greatest animated charecters of all time but think about it he went and died with the only reason i can see is the fact he didnt want to live with out julia. Thats just sad. ~ spike
Cowboy Bebop. This has to be my altime favorite show. It was well done. The music was great....but the ending was way rushed. ~ Jessica
Cowboy Bebop. The show is perfect... wonderful!!! My favorite show ever!!! So what's the problem? *starts sobbing like a baby* I wanna see moooooore!!! We were with our beloved characters for so brief a time. I relished each and every moment! In fact, I couldn't get enough of it! As a result, I eagerly await the movie. They should make lots of stand alone movies! I demand more Spike, Faye, Edward, Jet, Ein, and yes, maybe even Vicious! Of course, if they continued the show from where it ended, there would be no Spike or Vicious. Could we stand to watch Cowboy Bebop without those two characters? I don't think so! :) ~ Trellia
Cowboy Bebop. Cowboy Bebop is my favorite show. they have alot of action and killing.but they ended it to quick they should make Spike be in acoma and bring him back in 2 episodes. Vicious is awesome (Cowboy Bebop rules). ~ Devil Slayer
Cowboy Bebop. One of the greatest shows and the movie too, but one thing was wrong. Spike died! No, that was not a good thing and I cried when he died. Yes, I cried. I don't cry often and when I cry I go outside to my barn and hit my punching bag. So, I was out at 2:00am punching on my punching bag! I wish he didn't die :*(. ~ Brittani
Di Gi Charat. I have no idea if anyone else has seen this hyper-cute show, or even if it's out here yet. I scrounged up an internet copy based on a review. I expected something probably super-cute, maybe even understandable. What I got was hard to read subtitles, voices that sound like "na na ne na na na na na-nyo". THe opening theme was really nice, and the plot was understandable, but the na na na na's really bugged me. ~ Danielle
Digimon. Its good and the beginning theme song is catchy. But its a copycat of Pokemon and there is a lack in imagination because the bad guys are always doing to same thing and all the cretures' names end in "mon". I just think there is a lack of imagination in this show. If they are not mimicing something then they are re-doing a lame idea of their own. I do like the animation though. ~ Anon
Digimon. I gotta be honest. The TV show is adorable. It gives you a lot of stuff for fanfics, and it's just just kawaii. It's not at all copying Pokemon. There's a lot of differences. And the animation was great. The movie was cute. It had a good plot....but the animation was awful. But it gave me Willis so it can't be all bad. ~ Jennavette
Digimon. Digimon was an awesome show when it came out. The theme song kinda sucks, but seasons 01 and 02 had a good plot. But 03, God, I cant belive they took away all the other charecters! *sigh* The new season sucks. Takato is always crying, Rika acts like an *ss all the time! How dare they replace Yamato and Daisuke and all of them. They were cute. The new season charecters arent. ~ Marz
Digimon, Season 02. Personally, I would've kept this one OFF the film reel. If they had just left things as they were at the end of season 01, things would have been MUCH BETTER. I'd have just kept the regular kids in action, and Tai would have been with Sora at the end!! ~ ker-plop
Digimon 02. Honestly I luv the show the only problem is that hardly anything happens between T.k. and Kari. Everyone knows they should be together but nuthin happens! *_* ~ Faye
Digimon 02. I really likedthis series but in my opinion some of the characters were never developed. Daisuke, Iori and Miyako were my three fav characters but they were never developed as well as Ken, Tk, or Kari.It ws good but it could have been way better. ~ ali
Dinosaur. A truly beautiful and breath-taking film with groundbreaking technology. For once, however, I agreed with Roger Ebert's critcism. He stated that the cute voices the characters had don't belong in a film like this. I agree. I also wish that they would have altered the plot just a bit. At certain points it was more like a live-action version of "The Land Before Time." ~ Basil
Dragonball Z (the series). If only it wasn't for the endless "You haven't seen my true power yet" and "I'm impressed, but you're no match for me" etc. blabbering all the time, especially during the Frieza saga. It always takes about 15 minutes for them to yap about how powerful they are. Gawd, just get on with it! ~ JessKat
Dragonball Z. I used to love DBZ... until I realised that the episode consist of the two combatents posing at each other. It drag the story beyond all proportion (the '5' minutes that it took for planet Namek to explode lasted about 8 half hour episodes!). ~ TheRagnarok
Dragonball Z. I used to love Dragon Ball Z It had good Anmation and a good plot. But there is a problem No fighting at all!!!!!! All they do is grunt ~ Anon
Dragonball Z. okay...VERY cute series, but.....what the heck?! The kid is 12 but he's short, has a squeaky little voice, and acts like a 5 year old! I mean...COME ON! I'm ten and I've acted more mature then that! ~ misty
Dragonball Z. The show is great. The movies are better. The only problem I have with the show is they're always like: Hey let's find a completley desolate place like a biggilion miles wide then we shall grunt for 5 episodes, and then fight for 1. ~ Drew
Dragonball Z. okay i love DBZ but it does get a little old mean all they do is fight and fight and fight. Also why do the make the moives if they have nothing to do with the show itself its so stupid anway DBZ rocks :) ~ Heero
Dragonball Z. I luv Dragon Ball Z but most battle scenes have way too much talking instead of fighting. Bulma and Vegeta shouldn't of been a couple coz they didn't even have a relationship before Trunks! And Piccolo shouldn't of been asexual!!! ~ Gothic Devil
Dragonball Z. I've seen most all the episodes and it really needs more fighting and more jokes, I mean they really talk too much. They really need to make it more entertaining. ~ Anon
Dragonball Z. I think Dragonball Z is the best anime series out there, my only problem is the fact they everyone has to depend on "Goku." I think Vegeta or Trunks can do a better job in destroying the villains than goku at least these two are more realistic. ~ Royalssj
Dragonball Z. The biggest problem I have with DBZ is the whole, "We need Goku? Goku where are you?" stchick... It get's rather annoying after a while... Other than that, the series rocks... (even if they DO have a weird system of time keeping...) ~ Rasputin Bakunin
Dragonball Z. I love this show alot and I like a bunch of characters, but a few tick me off. First is Bulma, she can be such a jerk to anyone even if they hardly say anything to her. Then there is Chi Chi who also yells alot. It's characters like these that can drag an episode down. ~ Anon
The Dragonball Z movies. without a doubt dbz is the greatest action cartoon in the world but... those american wacko's took great japanese animation and turned it in to fairy little stupid shows. the japanese version of the movies (that are dubbed) and the episodes that have been chopped up by those wankers at "Funimation" are not the same, the show would reach a new high if they keep the show the same and did not edit the shows ~ turk
Dumbo. I expected a Disney classic. What I saw was an unpleasant film filled with cruelty, alcohol jokes, and unmemorable charaters. Dumbo's suffering is just too real to be enjoyable. ~ Budman
El Hazard (OAV). This is probably my favorite anime, right up there with Sorcerer Hunters. The music was great, I really liked the idea of making Ifurita serious and intellegant as opposed to ditzy and forgetful like her counterpart in "The Wanderers", but I wish we'd seen some more character development. I mean, Fujisawa never changed. He always remained the drunken mountain climbing history teacher we all know and love, and Alliele didn't do much besides whine and try to seduce Nanami and every other female lead. Eh... ~ Odessa No Miko
The Emperor's New Groove. Yikes, this movie lacks quite alot! No leading lady (other than Yzma, but she was the villian), no romance and no kiss scene, and none of the major charecters had a song! What are annoying people like me supposed to memorize and sing back at our "friends"? It was pretty funny though! (: ~ Greek Geek
The Emperor's New Groove. I would have liked the Prince and the Pauper version a LOT better. I love ENG, but it didn't have romance, kissing, a heroine, or anything. Why did they have to throw away the idea similar to Prince and the Pauper?! ~ Meg Servo
The Emperor's New Groove. I have to agree with Greek Geek, this movie needed some more songs.I was hoping it would be a big production with lots of plot twists, conflicts, and singing. I love the characters(especially Yzma and Kuzco),they are all very likeable and fun. The movie should have done more with them. ~ Clio the Muse
The Emperor's New Groove. This was a funny movie. I don't mind the fact that there was no leading lady and no kiss scene, because this movie was supposed to be different. I just don't like the fact that it felt like a ninty-minute-long "six-minute" cartoon. The embience in the movie was what did it in. ~ Mina-Chan
Fantasia 2000. I suppose , in all fairness, the Disney studio finally did decide to update the film, as Walt intended. But couldn't they have included some good stuff like Vivaldi's "Four Seasons", or even Holst's "The Planets Suite"? ~ Michael J. Clentworth
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Oh my GAWD!! The animation in this is incredible! As close to photo-realistic as it gets. But the love story was a little sappy and(if you don't like sci-fi) in some parts the scientific stuff is a little confusing. I luv it anyway. ~ Anon
The Fox and the Hound. This was and still is the best Disney movie I have ever seen, but I don't think Vixey had enough screen-time, especially during the fight with the bear. You barely see her at the end when Tod is watching Copper from a nearby cliff. She could have at least helped Tod and Copper against that bear! It almost killed them! She's a pretty character and probably the best cartoon fox I have seen since Maid Marion. Vixey kind of looked like Maid Marion, except Vixey never wore clothes, which made her kind of Sexy! I especially liked the part where we first saw Vixey, bathing near a pond. She had a nice figure... For a fox! Still, I think she could have deserved more screen-time. ~ Travis
Fushigi Yuugi. I LOVE this series. I'm an addict. As far as massive amounts of very good character developement that makes them actually memorable, it is unrivalled. But tell me this (SERIOUS SPOILERS) when Nuriko dies, why the heck did he move that blasted rock?!?!? If he had waited like two more minutes then he coulda been healed and then moved the darn thing!!!! :-( ~ Nuriko
Fushigi Yuugi. I love FUshigi Yuugi, it's one of my personal fave animes and the animation just rocked, as well as the artwork... Not to mention there were tons of Bishonen running around is a plus ;) What really irked me in the whole series was the way Miaka always screamed out TamahomEEEEEEEEEE at least ten times in EVERY episode! She coulda just said his name once y'know, it's not like he was deaf or extremely far away. >.< ~ Rikki
Gargoyles The Movie. Gargoyles is the best cartoon I've seen, apsolutly brilliant, and owning the video is great, totally love it, best cartoons i'll ever see.its only downside is on the video version, its just the first couple of cartoons in season one, and it has missing scenes on the video that you only see in the series. ~ Michael
The Great Mouse Detective. As a movie, it was terrific. As a tribute to Sherlock Holmes, however... lets just say I would have liked to see Basil use his brain a little more. ~ Kat
The Great Mouse Detective. Well , I think that Ratigan stole all Fidget's Glory ...... Fidget did the most crimanal work . Fidget deseveres some more recognition. ~ Jackie/FidgetFan
Gundam Wing.i think that the z&n romance should have been put into the light more thanit was. i'm sorry, i'm just a huge z&n fan. other than that it was a great series. ~ Anon
Gundam Wing. Gundam wing was good but in my opinion it could have been a lot better. The character relationships could have been explored a lot more and there was never a clear reason what the colonies were fighting for.Its a decent series but way overly hyped ~ ali
Gundam Wing. Gundam Wing was a great series! I just think they should've put more light on the thing between Zechs and Noin! And it wouldn't of killed them to make Duo a little darker. Don't ya think? ~ Sailor Starlight
Hercules. Loved Hercules, it's my favorite Disney movie, what with the wacky animation and Megara's personaility. BUT: Disney really had to play it down with the whole family tree! First of all, Hera is not his real mother, Alcmene was and she was a princess too, not an overweight peasant. Megara was also a princess, but I loved the was she was all twisted up with Hades. This movie must have a sequel, there are many questions that need to be answeared!!! ~ Greek Geek
Hercules. How could one not like Hercules? I think Disney should look into making future animated movies based on the Greek myths, although it might be hard to find ones that are G-rated. Anyway,I loved the character of Megara and the muses were great. They got the facts
alittle wrong, but hey that's just disney's approach. Greek mythology rules! ~ Clio the MuseHercules. This movie was okay. Megara made that flick; she was a great changed from the goody-two-shoes heroines. What bothered me was that it didn't follow the actual mythology. It was more like a fanfic made into a movie. Unless it's a really really really really REALLY good fanfic, don't make a movie out of it. Plus, the scene where Herc saves Megara from dying after she's already dead...that's a mean idea. It makes it look like you can cheat death. If you've seen the live-action horror flick Final Destination, you know that you can't cheat death. ~ Mina-Chan
Hey Arnold. How DENSE can Arnold be??? I swear Helga given him so MANY clues that she loves him but he still doesn't get it!!! And come on people, how long do you freaking stay in the 4th grade for gods sake?!?!? But I guess it makes it more interesting to watch, keep guessing when shes finally gonna tell him strait out that she loves him. And its good for fanfiction too. ~ Kimi the Kenlei
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I know, Quasimodo had to have someone to talk to, but those gargoyles...! Disney's habit of wrecking serious films with silly sidekicks is at its worst here. Their song is the most jarring, out-of-place thing in recent animation history. ~ Kat
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I would have deemed this one of absolutely favourite movies, if not for the three bozo stoneheads Victor, Hugo and Laverne. *Shudder* ~ Vivienne
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It would have been better without all the GOLDANG SINGING!!! ~ ker-plop
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. How about a little character development, pleeease? Yes, I understand who's good, who's evil and who's inbetween, but come on, Disney! If you're going to use Victor Hugo's writing, use the writing. ~ Ashley
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. There is one thing about this movie that angered me so badly the first time I saw it, I was almost in tears. No, it's not the gargoyles... hee hee... I can even deal with them. It is that Disney - in the same spirit as what they did with Beauty and the Beast - had the chance to show once again that appearances can be deceiving, but instead they do just like most the other versions do... they rewrite Phoebus as the glamorized romance hero who just adores lovely Esmeralda just because he has the fancy schmancy shiny armor and the full head of golden locks! <:o( ~ Phorum Ghost
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I agree with Phorum Ghost. People with less than atractive looks can find love, too! Phoebus didn't really deserve Esmarelda at the end of the movie. And even though Quasimodo can smile and let on like he doesn't care that he and Esmarelda are just friends, how do you think he feels inside? What are we teaching kids? I loved the songs, though, no matter what some people say about them! More to memorize, i always say! ~ Greek Geek
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This is my favorite movie of all time! (Yes, I know, I'm very easy to please.) I even loved the gargoyals and it had the best villian of all, but... I really think Quasi should have ended up with Esmeralda in the end. Just because pheobus is cute and has a handsome name, doesn't mean he should automaticly get the girl. ~ Storm Shepard
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I love this movie. It's one of my favorite's actually, but I hate Phobeus. Esmerelda and Quazie all the way! The gargoyels, though a little annoying, are quite cool and i love them well. This movie also had some of the best songs i've ever heard, however looking back at it now it surprised me that Disney would make such a movie. This movie had so much to do with religion and religious corruption that i just couldn't believe they made it! still, i'm soooo glad they did. ~ Rei
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Visually stunning, contains best movie in all animation (God Help the Outcasts) and second best female lead (Esme is second only to Chel, IMHO)... but here's the thing: I read the book. I love the book. I ADORE the book. But Disney changed so much of it, the title is about all that remains of Victor Hugo's original masterpiece! Oh, and my main beef with this movie? They cut Pierre Gringoire!! Blasphemy, I tell you!!! ~ Mainecoon
Inu-Yasha. I luv Inuyasha both manga and anime-I just get ticked off with one thing. And that's the Kikyou and Inuyasha relationship, I mean, Kikyou is dead-and was supposed to stay dead-they can't rewind time, they need to live in the past. So, Kikyou, go back to underworld and accept your fate! ~ Miko Sakuya p>Inu-Yasha. I LOVE Inuyasha which is probably an understatement but why can't Inuyasha ever be nice? GAWD, It bugs me! and he won't forget about Kikyo after FIFTY YEARS!!! I mean, come on! He should move on to Kagome, haven't u ever noticed how he blushes whenever they get close, or if someone suggests Inuyasha has feelings for Kagome?! My, my....such late bloomers.... ~ Maiko
Invader Zim. I do love this show . . . I love it good. But, has anyone else noticed that the animaters can't seem to decide how many fingers Zim should have? Sometimes he has three and sometimes he has four . . . It's distracting. And why doesn't Zim just blast Dib with his lawn gnomes? Wouldn't it be easier than trying to shoot him into space? ~ Holli
Invader Zim. The IZ series is cool. I love it. But when nick took it off air it made me so mad. Well it also bugs that gaz doesn't show up as much as Dib,Zim, or GIR. But it might be because she isn't as popular as them. ~ WiredDragon
Invader Zim. I personally love Zim. I'm ok with it getting canceled though, Nick was killing Jhonen with all the things they were forcing him to change. it would have been much better if they let him keep it the way it was.. and whats up with nick telling the crew to get rid of Dib? Jhonen was just making Dib more of a main character, killing him off would just be wrong. ~ Sloan
Invader Zim. I love this show. I love it more than any T.V. program out there ever and it will always be my favorite. But one thing bugged me. Season 2 has so many Dib episodes. I love Dib, but with more episodes of him in them, it makes him less special. And I'm not down with that. ~ Lord Auddie
The Iron Giant. Poor Hogarth, just one kid against a representative of the entire US government, including the Army. (It could have been worse - Mansley could have been with the IRS...) And Hogarth had a weak spot, his mom. Good thing he also had a good friend to help out who also happened to be a giant intergalactic weapon. ~ Kat
The Iron Giant. The movie is very specifically set in the year 1957, and at the end the U. S. atomic-powered submarine "Nautilus" shoots a nuclear-tipped ballistic missile at the Iron Giant. He flys off and the missile follows him. BUT! A ballistic missile cannot home in on its target, and the "Nautilus" was never equipped to launch such missiles. The first U. S,. submarine that could do that was put in commission in 1960. ~ Richard Smyers
The Jungle Book. Three words: Mowgli is annoying. ~ JessKat
Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure. Angel was the best part about this film, and the animation was okay. Unfortunately, that doesn't save the rest of it. The songs were horrible, they completely changed Tramp's character (for the worse) and what was up with Scamp being a troubled teenage copy version of his father?! ~ JessKat
Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure. Lady and the Tramp is the classic of all time. Well, Lady and the Tramp two is not. The art is good, but the rest of the movie is not. Well, the puppies are cute. But, they really changed Tramp a lot. When did Buster come in as Tramp's partner on the streets, Scamp's voice is to adultish. ~ ALester
Lilo and Stitch. I have to admit, Lilo and Stitch was a wonderful and great movie. The characters were developed well, and the backgrounds were gorgeous. (Good job Disney! :D) Even the story-line was good! Except the ending, when Nani met up with the aliens. That was just too awkward for me. ~ Lord Auddie
Lilo and Stitch. "Lilo and Stitch" is probably the second greatest modern Disney movie to come out. Heck, I did go and watch it three times in the theatre! If not for a few major flaws toward the second half of the film, I might have liked it even more than "The Emperor's New Groove" which I consider flawless. The first hour of the movie is fabulous! It's funny (HILARIOUS actually), and the characters and all their interactions with one another are wonderfully developed. Lilo herself is absolutely wonderful ("My friends need to be punished")! And Stitch? What a sickingly cute devilish little monster! Towards the end, however, probably right after the scene where Stitch is in the woods and whimpers, "I'm lost," things take a turn for the worst. I'm not sure if I can explain it. It just starts to get kind of dull for me. The emotion all seems a little forced.. VERY forced.. and it goes from genuinely funny and touching to cheesey and predictable. Oh well. The first half makes it all worth while, however, and I know of a certain someone who liked this movie enough to let it sit in his collection of DVD's along with "The Emperor's New Groove".. the ONLY other modern Disney movie he likes. ;) ~ Trellia
The Lion King. A daringly novel idea - Disney is going to kill off a good guy! - and a decent group of characters (particularly the villains) is sabotaged by poor pacing and potty humor. The entire Hakuna Matata bit was a jarring break in the story, bringing the action to a screeching halt and negating the seriousness of Simba's loss with silliness. Also jarring is the whole King-of-the-Jungle cliche - during the opening scene, all I kept thinking was "Go ahead and bow, you fools, he'll be killing and eating you in a few months." ~ Kat
The Lion King. Oh, Disney. Stealing the story from Kimba the white lion is ok, you do this stealing every time. But buying the license later (I always thought you had to do that beforehand....) and keeping it away from public so none can see those similarities (just see the names....) is really low. The story without the disney-like singing and dancing was quite fine, though and animation looked good, too, especially the stampede. ~ Mamo
The Lion King. My big problem is how in the begining, nomatter how good, or beautiful the "circle of life scene" is WHy would all the animals come to pride rock to see Simba? Couldnt you just see the zebras arriving, and Mufasa turning to his wife andsaying "Look dear, we can start now, the buffet is here!" and the mama giraffe telling her baby, "yes child, hes the prince, and if youre lucky, someday he'll feed on you." Also Ive been hearing these so called Anime fans (Im an anime fan too, just more of an informed one) saying that The Lion King is a ripoff of Kimba the white Lion. Its not, Kimba was Clearly made (not just released) after The Lion King. The Japanese see art and try to copy it alot, they think, if i can recreate this , and do it better, then my verson is the best one. (see the Tokyo tower) This was somthing I was told when I went to an art museum in Tokyo.(somthing I personally see no problem..to be imateted is the greatest compliment..in america, we worry about the other person copying us and doing it better, therefore making more $) ~ Michelle
The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. This HAD potential! Really it did! I honestly liked most of it. Simba's daughter is a very good character dispite a few steriotypes (and she's got a lovely voice). But I have one word: "Upendi". I cannot watch that without gagging. And then there's Nala's voice. She sounds like she has a permanent cold. Timon and Pumbaa were hoplessly flat characters... no development at all. The scar thing with Kovu was just a little TOO perfect. And the plot inconsistencies... Since when did Scar have a following of lionesses? Since when was the pride that enormous? Why would Simba have banished them??? That was completely out of character. And last but not least: Timon and Pumbaa's fight scene taken directly from "The Producers". Please, Disney, do us all a favor and leave Mel Brooks to Mel Brooks!! ~ Mainecoon
The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. I really liked this movie exept for a few things.1.Nala seemed to have contacts.2.Pasting Mufasa in the sky during the He Lives in You seqence was corny.3.Upendi made me sick! Though I must admit it was good.I liked Kiara and Nuka. They had real character development and personality. ~ Rabid Locust
The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. I really liked it and all, but sticking Mufasa's face in the sky was cheesy. And Timon and Pumbaa's "Beeper" joke was completely out out of place. I mean they are animals, how would they know what a beeper is? Nala's voice sounded like an old woman and since when can Rafiki sing? I feel like Zira was a horrible mom, and was too psyhco. Other than that, the movie was good, the animation was great, and Kovu looked really strong, and handsome. ~ Campbell
The Little Mermaid. Wonderful movie, wonderful story, just one thing: WHY did Airel fall for Eric? I Don't have anything against him, I just want to know WHY. Aladdin tells you WHY, Beauty and the Beast tells you WHY, how come The Little Mermaid doesn't? ~ Anon
The Little Mermaid. Ariel would have been just as sweet and wonderful WITHOUT the stupid purple shells. I'm sorry to say it, but in this day and age, it seems the world still can't wrap it's brain around the fact that a woman can be just as interesting when she doesn't have cleavage busting out all over! And I thought animation was more civilized than that. Other than that, though, the movie was a landmark in animation, with great songs and breathtaking undersea scenes. ~ MissFitt Lesbian
The Little Mermaid. I recently watched this movie for the first time in years, and i was expecting the movie i loved as a child. Thats not what i got, i saw Ariel as a stupid, headstrong teenager who gives up everything, i mean everything she has and knows in the world, becuase she's "in love" with some human she's only seen before. She falls in love with the first human she sees, i mean really, come on people, and she's only 16. and if Eric was really in love with her no corny little spell would have deterred him. the only good thing about the whole movie is the character development of Ursula and King Triton and the conflict between them. and why in the world did they make a sequel?! ~ Batmanhead
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. Ugh! Way too cliched! It's pretty much just a rehash of the first movie. On the plus side, Rob Paulson did Prince Eric's voice. ~ Allicat
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. I liked this sequal , but with one negative comment ......we need more UNDERTOW !!!!! He is way to cool a tiger shark to just ignore most of the time . Ariel was a little to hard on Melody too. ~ Jackie / FidgetFan
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. flounder was so FAT!!!! he looked like an old fish version of elvis presley!! his voice was so heavy and NOT nice!! and ariel looked like OLIVE (from Popeye) in that scene when shes singing in the sea, looking for melody! ...UGLY!! anyway, it was good! not all that bad! but definitely room for improvement!! ~ Suha and Fiza
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. Disney has a bad habbit of taking a movie, doing the same plot, only backwards or oppisite, and calling it a sequel. The animation was not as good, but that could have somthing to do with The Little Mermaid (original) was the last disney movie to be hand inked and painted. (Truly a classic and My favorite movie) Building a wall around the watter seems to unrealistic for an ex- mermaid to do. We all know, if we forbid a child to do somthing, espically without saying why, or a good reason,(Just like Ariel and the human world) they have a great desire to try it.( "What is your facination with my 'forbidden closet of mystery'?" ) I liked the music of TLM2, and Melody was cool, although i see no reason fro her to be unpopuar. Alot of us talk to our pets, even stuffed animals! I think the movie would be better if Melody was raised with both kingdoms, and was trying to juggle her mermaid life and her human one , maybe a time would come when she had to choose one or the other, and there would be the plot! I also believe that Morgana had the WORST introduction i movie history... she shoots out of the water, and with us having no prior knoweledge of her its "ursulas crazy sister!" and she should have been chubby! genetics are cool. her legacy should have been introudeced later in the film!!! ~ Michelle
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. This movie was the dumbest remake yet!!! i hate it when they bring the previously killed off villians brother or sister they created to make another cheesy sequel. I also hate when the characters have kids and they get all wishy-washy, like Ariel, man she sucked! She no longer haS some character, but was just a boring 'mother'. They also should have gotten rid of the adventurers/explorers, they were annoying and their songs sucked. They butchered the Little Mermaid completely, although i liked the some of the undersea images. ~ Lana
Magic Knight Rayearth. Great animation, good music good plot development.... Quite making everything revolve around Hikaru, what about Umi and Fuu? Or Ascott, Ferrio and Presea...great twist at the end though, so all in all is good except making EVERYTHING revolve around Hikaru ~ Bob
Mulan. Great story, good characters, lots of humor, nice songs......Yet there was still SOMETHING missing. I still can't decide what, but it doesn't make up to being a truly memorable classic to me. ~ JessKat
Mulan. Four words: Mushu, Yao, Ling, and Chin-Po. Mulan could've been really great if only they'd gotten rid of them. ~ Christy
Mulan. Hello? The SIDEKICKS are in this movie too! Other than the final battle scene, they don't do much. I couldn't even remember their names after the movie ended. And Mushu... Too loud, too small... it seemed more like an advertisement for Eddie Murphy than an honest attempt at a good characterization. Basically the sidekicks had too little emotional involvement with the rest of the story to give it any depth. ~ Mainecoon
Mulan. Female action hero, love the idea! Sidekicks? Who needs sidekicks? The cricket got her into trouble in the first place. Ya Know, i wondered what the Chinese thought of this movie.. then i thought of the dragon dancing with the ancestors at the end and felt embarassed for some reason... blasphemy! dont mess with religion ~ Aravan
Mulan. It could have been much, much, much worse, and technically, I have no problems, but. . . Disney execs, repeat after me: We do not impose Western philosophy on Eastern tradition. We do not misuse anachronisms, new-agey feel-good-speak, and lame catchphrases. We do not add cute characters for the sake of marketing Happy Meals. And, most imporatantly, we do NOT put Eddie Murphy and his wacky shtick in ancient China! ~ CZ
Mulan. What irked me was that Mulan is pronounced in Mandarin Chinese but her last name (Fa, or translated, flower) is spoken in Cantonese Chinese. Also in the original story Mulan's parents know she's gone to war in her father's place. As usual Disney screwed it up. Some good music and quotes though. ~ Anon
Mulan. The songs were different and I enjoyed them! I don't know why but there was something that just didn't set right with me. I hated Mushu, he was extremly loud and obnoxious. Eddie Murphy was good as Donkey, but Mushu was too overbearing and what kind of dog is Little Brother supposed to be? ~ Imerald
Mulan. I liked this movie,I really did. But I agree there is just something missing. The songs were good, there just should have been more, you know to stretch the movie out a little. It seemed too short. And there was no kiss scene!:( Oh and stop picking on Mushu y'all! He was funny ~ Clio the Muse (aka Zezolla)
Neon Genesis Evangelion . Terrific piece of Japanese animation. Gotta' be one of the best. Amazing art, exploding with character development. One problem. The story was great, but, and I guess I expected this, was there NOTHING else except that endless feeling of hopeless despair? I tell ya', my head was aching the entire time I watched the series... with the big, scientific words that took 8 hours for me to process, the ongoing sense that everyone was gonna' die and just what HORRIBLE lives these poor teenagers had. The plot revolved around what a mess the world was in. The headaches go away afterwards, and I still can't wait for the movie, but a joke once and a while would be very helpful. ~ Ume
The Nightmare Before Christmas. I absolutely love this film. Great story, fantastic characters, cool look, so it hurts me to do this: There is one gaping plot hole at the end, how did Jack know where Sandy Claws was being kept and how did the Mayor , Lock, Shock, and Barrell find out where they were. perhaps there was a scene edited that explained all that, but they should have kept it in. ~ auburn red
The Nightmare Before Christmas. I love this film, so I lament some bloopers in it. The main one is there are only five holiday trees (Easter, Thankgiving, Christmas, Valentine, St. Patrick, Halloween). What about Mother's day, Carnival, and much others? At second, we don't know where Sally passed to live after she run from her creator, nor how did she discover where Santa Claus was imprisoned. And it's not also explained how did Jack save her and Santa Claus from the lava pit_is he a sort of David Copperfield? Another little thing: I still get emotioned when I see Jack joining Sally on the hill, but can't help think is a pity he hadn't fell for her before. By the way, how did he met her? ~ Silver Lady p>The Nutcracker Prince. LOVELY film, lovely music, (especially Clara's song)a very well done story. Only those dumb mice! I never have been able to take a stupid villian seriously. And the Mouse King is one of the stupidest ever. Also the Pirlipat story was a bold try, but done too silly. The film is one of my favorites all the same. An enjoyable film. ~ Silver Lady
Peter Pan. This movie was okay, good animation, a few good songs and a nice story. But Wendy is probably the most annoying Disney girl ever! "Oh, Peter, this is so WONDERFUL! Oh, Peter, this place is BEAUTIFUL!" Such an annoying voice and too much like an ideal 50's role model for women. And wouldn't most teenagers LIKE to get a room of their own? ~ JessKat
Peter Pan. I loved the movie, especially Michael. He was so cute, but Wendy was just annoying. Even Peter Pan thought she was, i mean he said she talked to much and she did. I wanted to tell her to shut up. And hey what was up with Peter Pan not knowing what a kiss was,i know TigerLily kissed him and he knew to blush, he got all happy. I liked Tinkerbell to, but i think she was kind of b***chy, i mean she would risk the lives of the lost boys, and peter pan just to get rid of wendy. What's up with that? ~ Silverwing
Peter Pan II: Return to Never Land. The main reason I went to see this movie is, I admit, because Corey Burton provided the voice for Captain Hook. Alright, glad that's off my chest! I was a bit worried that would be the only thing I would like about the movie, but I was wonderfully mistaken! RTNL was so much better than I expected. When I saw Hook's ship, The Jolly Roger, looming high over Wendy's house, it was... I can't describe it! And the way he backed off slowly into the foliage after that encounter with Jane, was soooo...oooooh. Chills. But getting off the subject of Hook for one second: This one was a lot better than most Disney sequels. I was very happy with what Disney had done with their ideas. It was a very humorous and feel good movie! But...I kinda missed Tick Tock, the crocodile, and felt that the Octopus really couldn't take his place. Other than that, kudos Disney! ~ Greek Geek
The Phantom of the Opera. This short film, believe it or not, is one of my favorite phantom films. I do like the original story with all of its simplicity (a refreshing thing in an often confusing world). I can even deal with it being a low-budget production. However, why in the name of everything sacred and taboo did they not only draw Erik so.... vertically challenged... but also draw him in such a tasteless outfit? Where is my lovable Living Skeleton in Elegant Gentleman's Clothes????? ~ Phorum Ghost
Pocahontas. The animation was good, the songs were nice (though there were a bit too many of them) and the story was ALMOST historically accurate......If only John Smith wouldn't have been such a bore. ~ JessKat
Pocahontas. Pocahontas was the greatest disney film. The story was beautiful as well as the animation. Everyone says it wasnt totally accurate, but hello? its a disney movie an ANIMATED MOVIE! I dont care what anyone says bad about this movie i love it and John Smith was awesome! The romance was wonderful. ~ Melissa
Pocahontas. Glaring historical innacuracies asside, this movie is just inconsistant with itself. For the first time since...well...ever, we have an animated movie where the animal sidekicks don't actually talk. They were actually believable, realistic animals. But then what does Pocahontas do? She goes out and talks to a willow tree. A WILLOW TREE!! And it talks back! The animals can't talk, yet the plants do... It just gives me a headache... ~ Chuck
Pocahontas. I have heard so much critisicsm on this movie: either about the historical inaccuracies or the non-traditional ending. But this movie is underrated in my opinion. It is far from being the best disney movie, but hey the music was BEAUTIFULas was the animation, and the romance was believable. One of the last really good disney movies(Hunchback was by far the best). BUt I will admit the little animals like Meeko and Flit kinda annoyed me. ~ Clio the Muse
Pocahontas. As a whole, Pocahontas was more or less all right, but it was the first Disney film where something meant to be serious and profound struck me as just plain silly: the arrow/compass revelation. It's just so unbelievably trite, I almost started laughing in the theater. ~ CZ
Pocahontas. Beautiful, beautiful animation. I love the songs, and John Smith (wink wink :D). But, look at all the inaccuracies! Pocahontas was like, 12 in real life. And John Smith's crew didn't look for gold, but for a place to settle (aka Jamestown). Just one more thing -- Pocahontas could really do without the bursting cleavage and hips bigger than her shoulders. Come on Disney, give us a heroine with beleivable measurments! Aside from all of that, I love it. ~ Melanie
Pocahontas. I was really excited to learn of the actual history of Pocahontas after watching the movie, but in doing so I found that Disney had made a big error, one of the biggest, I think, in their history. Hello! Pocahontas was like seven when she met John Smith, not seventeen, people. Did that fail to enter Disney's brains as they drew her? I mean what seven year old has that body. But the plot and characters were outstanding, it is still one of my favs. ~ Michan
Pocahontas II: Journey To A New World. As a huge fan of Pocahontas I couldn't wait to see Pocahontas 2, but boy was I dissapointed. The animation stunk big time and it was NOTHING like the first one. What I hated the most was the end! I love John Smith, he and Pocahontas went together so perfectly. They made John look like a pig headed jerk and he ISN'T!I know Disney was tryng to be historically accurate, but this is DISNEY they should have had John Smith return with Pocahontas despite history. After all this is an animated movie, not real life. ~ Melissa
Pokemon. No, I'm not anti-Pokemon (The pokemon are sooooo cute!) but after the thrird seasons, it gets really really boring---I mean, it's just the same thing over and over again! Person-of-the-day has a problem (usually to do with their pokemon) and Ash helps them...and usually he has to have a pokemon battle to prove whatever. And also, despite the fact that I like Team Rocket a lot more then Ash, Misty and Brock...why are they even there? They do next to nothing!...but as I said before---THE POKEMON ARE SOOOO ADORABLE!!! ^0^ ~ Lexie
Pokemon 2000. I think I hear Lugia's song in my sleep now. This would have been better if they just played it once or twice. I guess I'm saying they played it too much and it's not even that good a song. (PS- I do agree with JJ+M's speech at the end)...'shippers rule! ~ FemJesse
Pokemon 2000. "Disturb not the harmony of fire, ice or lightning, lest these titans wreack destruction upon the world in which they clash. . ." How many other people knew that 'ancient legend' by the time the movie was over? Not only did they repeat the first few lines countless times, but they called up the B-52s and made a song out of it!! ARRGG! There wasn't enough Team R (there never is) and Tracey is annoying. Other than that, it's a good movie, the music is okay (love that 'Polkamon') and the animation? Way better than the show. ~ Kipper
Pokemon. ''To protect the world from devistation, blast off at the speed of light, prepare to fight and all that other junk'' How many of you out there know the whole thing off by heart? Waarrrggghhh!! Team Rocket saying it once in a while, I could understand, but saying it over and over again can really get on your nerves after a while.Other than this the Pokemon show rocks! Big time! ~ Bluefox
Pokemon. I used to like Pokemon but it's so predictable. And once on series is is over they do the exact same thing except collect badges in a different league! And Ash is so stupid! The baka gives away all his Pokemon! Charizard, Squirtle, Haunter, Butterfree, Pidgeot, and like 50 others... And he never trains or evolves his pokemon! ~ Pegan
Pokemon the First Movie. It was a good movie... but it made 'Mewtwo' look like the 'bad guy'. Okay, so the things he done where not the nicest thing in the world, but give him a break. If I where a clone, I'd feel the same way. ~ Lee
Pokemon the Movie 2000. I really loved this movie! It was way better then all the other movies shown. Except one problem, Lugia's song! They reapeated that a lot of times. But I loved the movie anyway. ~ Niko98
The Powerpuff Girls Movie. Gee, way to ruin your own show, Craig McCracken! Now, honestly, I had very high expectations for this movie because the show is so excellent, but the movie didn't even come close! No witty jokes, no characterization, no nothing! The only characters who were developed were the PowerPuff Girls themselves while everyone around them seemed like they were only there to further the plot. If you can even consider that a plot. ~ Lisa
Princess Mononoke. The animation and music was gorgeous, but the plot was confusing. There were way too many elements, Ashitaka's curse, San's life with the wolves (we never learn much about her though she's the main character), the war between the humans and the gods, the Nightwalker losing his head....They should have concentrated more on just a few plotlines. ~ JessKat
Princess Mononoke. six words-my favorite movie of all time.the animation and music is gorgeous, the caracters are great-it puts most other anime to shame.my two major problems were this-some teeny flaws can be found, and the dub voices aren't really good. for all you humans that can't understand it --watch it more than once!! ^_^ ~ Litaresanrin
Princess Mononoke. This is the best fantasy film of all time, but it had a bad ending you never found out if Ashitaka and San ever became more than just friends.~ Data
Quest for Camelot. Great idea, fun concept, ruined by baaaad animation. Also, a female knight and and a blind hero sounded great and could have been really unique, but the ideas died practically as they were born and the potentials for both were simply thrown away. ~ Kat
Quest for Camelot. Three words... Too Many Songs. Even Disney give themselves a cut off point with the number of songs in a film but I found myself saying "Dear GAWD! Not another song!" while watching this WB film. ~ Silvertongue9
Quest for Camelot. The plot for the film sounded interesting, then the characters started singing songs that made me want to gag. The film had a unique style of animation but a bad plot and poor characterization drag down on it. ~ Basil
Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown. This movie is a lot of fun to watch, but you really have to wonder what type of camp would let a bunch of kids go down a river for a multi-day, unmarked trail river race! Sure the fun is watching the Peanuts gang slip off down log flumes, through dark caves and rapids, but, I wonder how any parent would have reacted to learning their kids went through all this! ~ Laurie
The Rescuers. Bernard and Bianca are great characters. The villains and supporting cast are also engaging. It's too bad that Penny's character isn't equally well developed. She never becomes anything more than a bland, generic, cute little victimized girl. ~ Mark Lungo
The Road to El Dorado. The music was bad. The plot was not the best. The only thing that kept me glued to it was the shiny animation and back and forth comedy bits between miguel and tulio. Chel wasn't bad either, but... it needed better music. It was like they couldn't deside if they wanted to do a serious Pocahantis (I won't even comment on that disaster) or a wacky crazy animated ball of laughs, which I'm okay with, as long as they don't try and give it such an evil bad guy. ~ Angel
The Road to El Dorado. Beautiful artwork, excellent animation. But too many annoying inconsistencies and plot holes! Where did Cortes get a new horse? How could the natives of El Dorado understand Tulio and Miguel. I'm nit-picking, I know, but these little things just bugged me. ~ Emma
The Road to El Dorado. The animation was beautiful. That was all that was beautiful. Poor characterization, a plot that goes nowhere, and pointless goofing around through most of the picture makes it pretty lame. I recall even the kiddies falling asleep when I saw it at theaters. Augh!
The Road to El Dorado. The music was SUCH a disappointment. I would've expected much more from Elton John, especially after The Lion King. And Incan people being terrified of sacrificing? NOT! They were, in fact, honored if they were chosen for a gift to the gods. ~ JessKat
The Road to El Dorado. This was a *very* good movie. The songs were great, the animation superb, Miguel and Tulio really hot! (sigh) but the ending was a bit disapointing. It was very open. However, that means a sequel would be great for it! And fanfics, too. ~ Cassandra
The Road to El Dorado. I liked this movie. I liked it a lot. I might even consider it on my Top 10 list. But the music wasn't exactly moving, and that's the understatement of the year. I also didn't think Chel really did anything for the plot, except for seduce Tulio (which I think they could've left alone, thank you very much). Although it was a relief to see that she was extremely curvy, she was a little too...I dunno. I'm not talking through jealousy or anything, it's just that any smarting past what Megara did in Hercules is a bit too much for my taste. ~ voice_chaser
The Road to El Dorado. First of all:I loved the animation in this movie.Wow. Secondly,I loved all three characters(Tulio,Miguel, and Chel) Tulio and Miguel are so hot! And leave Chel alone! I thought it was great that the main female chracter was not a towering model with no hips. This girl was absolutely adorable and also a more realistic looking woman. I guess I sort of identified with her b/c I'm sort of short and have a pear shaped body like her. Also, this movie was so clever it had the potential to be a disney film. But I must critique:the songs were a big disappoitment. Elton John,i expected better. ~ Clio the Muse
The Road to El Dorado. This is one of the absolute greatest animated films (along with Mulan and The Secret of Nimh) of all time. There is just a couple teensy problems with it, and they are both related. First of all when Tulio accidentally hits Miguel in the face in the ball game, it's closer to his eye, but when they show the cut later it's above his brow, and second, what on Earth was on Tulio's shirt that could cause a cut like that? It seems to me it would have been more of a scrape. ~ little Blue Lucy
Sailor Moon. I found Salior Moon to be an Ok show, interesting story line and all,but when ever Salior Moon and scouts got into a fight with the forces of evil, they'ed start with a big speech about being ''the Champions of justice, right wrongs blah, blah, blah. Come oooonnnnn!!! Less prattle, more battle people!!! Sheeesh!!! ~ Bluefox
Sailor Moon. I,personally, am a big fan of this show. The japanese version is beautiful and even the American version has its strong points...but most of the time its STUPID!Nonsense lines, corny speeches, cut scenes.Dic and Cloverway could have done a lot better... ~ Amber
Sailor Moon. I am a really big fan of Salior Moon, but all they do Is show off cr*pp! Running aroun like threr chikens with there heads chopped off geees ~ Ty
Sailor Moon R. I loved the movie, but what was with the Fiore pushing Usagi scene, it was wierd. It looked like he was trying to grab her shirt. and the roses..! Ever notice in the Manga Mamoru never throws a rose? He has a..dradle thingy and "Tuxedo la Smoking bomber" (awesome attack name!) While Sailor moon does have wierd speeches (Tuxedo mask too!) Thats part of her charm! Did anyone else notice that in the begining, when Mamoru gave fiore a rose, it was closed, but in the flashback, the rose Usagi gave Mamoru was open, and was still ope in the flashback of the first scene! THe movie was great and still can make me cry (mostly from missing "Nippon-sei"!) and has beautiful memorible music ~ Michelle
Sailor Moon. I love Sailor Moon in the manga, but in the tv show, sometimes Serena is just too annoying to handle, and Darien most of the time is a major jerk. Sailormoon is so wimpy and yet she always pulls 'magically through' with the power with in herself ....does anyone elso see the problem with this? And Tuxedo Mask, what is up with him? His speeches get annoying after awhile and he doesn't really do anything besides throw a rose, make a speech, and then go. Also why is it that everytime his rose flies that one of the girls has to say "Look! It's Tuxedo Mask!" I still watch Sailormoon as it has many good points but they should have stayed truer to the manga. ~ Suzi
Sailor Moon. I love this show! The animation is great, the characters are cool and the bad guys are awesome! but what is with the long speeches that never change, the long transormations that take up half the show and how the bad guys always pin down the sailor scouts and they have to wait for tuxedo mask to come save their butts. also no one ever knows who the sailor scouts real identities are even though thier faces are uncovered and everything! ~ Anon
Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders. Although the movie had its moments, it had quite a few problems. Scooby and Shaggy wore themselves out too quickly - give Fred and Daphne a chance! (Velma had her moment of glory in Witch's Ghost") AND - where did Fred and Daphne's PERSONALITIES go? ~ DaphFlamm
The Secret Of NIMH. 'Secret Of NIMH' is one of the best 80's cartoons ever, and even adults can enjoy this animated classic, the characters are enjoyable, the character animation is excellent, the art direction is beautyful, and the score is outstanding. The only thing that failed in the movie, is that the movie ain't so good as the book, but there are so many of that kind, and rememeber to watch out for all the hundreds of goofs in this movie! ~ Ulrik 'Rainbowface' Raben
Shrek. The movie was really good with the message (how beauty isn't as important as the actual person), but we REALLY could have done without the swearing. They must have mentioned the "a" word a thousand times in that movie! I know that most of the time it was a joke, but that is VERY crude humor. I'm thankful that it was rated PG. ~ zipper
The Simpsons. OK, I hate to be knocking the greatest TV show of all time, but I have one complaint...Marge is bloody annoying. I know every humor show has a straight man for the jokes, but she doesn't cut it, and even when the writers try to make her funny, it just comes off as annoying (dag, I need a thesaurus). And she reminds me too much of my own mother, which is just plain scary. I wish Becky (from "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad Marge") really HAD gotten rid of her. ~ Writin'Chica2K
The Slayers. This, the first TV series in the massive Slayers epic, has outrageously fun and sometimes unexpected humor. It uses its own predictability as leverage against itself to create some true fantasy satire. However, what really annoyed me was the constant use of repeated animation cut scenes, and the overall lackluster animation in general. Also, some of the episodes (like dress-Gourry-up-as-a-girl) are anime conventions, and nothing really original. However, the overall feel of this show is a positive one, despite the noticeable cost-cutting. ~ Daniel Harris
Slayers Try. I absolutly love Slayers...love is an understatment.....but where the heck is Sylphiel?! I mean, in the end of NEXT she says something like 'Wait for me! I want to come too!' and she's no where in site in TRY!!! I mean, sure I don't mind since Lina-Sama was in Slayers TRY^-^ but they should have atleast given a reason why Sylphiel wasn't there---maybe I just wasn't listening.... ~ Lovely*Lina
Sleeping Beauty. Oh very good animated movie. It would have been considered maybe even in the anime category if it wasn't so Disney drawn. What holds it back isn't how it is drawn or even the song but villian mistakes. Why would such an evil lady has such stuuupid [Dexter accent] troll lackies. The bird was a good sidekick. ~ James Birdsong
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. okay, I'm probably going to get flamed for this one and I recognize it for being the first Disney film, I appreciate it for its influence and understand that if it wasn't for Snow White chances are we wouldn't be talking to each other, but I have real problems with it. First, we have a wimpy heroine with an annoying squeaky voice who was jsut too syrupy and too good to be true (I'm sorry I'm too much of a 21st century girl to look upon Snow White as a role model), a prince who has not only no flaws, but doesn't even have a character and songs that are monotonous (Whistle While You Work? Heigh Ho? Cute, but not really grea songs). The only things good that that movie had were I liked the dwarves' individual characters (particularly Dopey), and in the Wicked Queen they had the first best Disney villain. ~ Auburn Red
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I liked the prince but c'mon she falls in love with him and she didn't even know his name or anything but the little dwarves were really cute except the cranky one. ~ Paola
Space Jam. quite differet.music? exelent.lola is great, but bugs dont.the animation is primitive.but the backgrounds are the beast i heve ever seen ~ andy
Space Jam. Neat animation. Good gags. Terrific voice work. But it just seemed to be a lengthy version of those Nike commercials with Bugs and Jordan in the mid-90s. Wayne Knight was funny (as usual), and it was great to see Dan Castellaneta, but basketball players just can't act. And what the heck is with Lola Bunny? She, and the romantic subplot, were so cliched. ~ Killjoy
Space Jam. While we all loved the Micheal Jordan era in pro basketball, this movie spent way too much time on the game and too little on the characters. Who was Lola Bunny? She may have been just a walkon, but she could have had an interesting history if someone just took the time. It could have answered the question of why Warner Bros. never had a recurring female character. (and no it didn't have to be serious) ~ Steve
The Swan Princess. I actually liked the theme for this film and all the characters... except Derek. Come on, he is supposed to have the male lead, but he was so lame. We are supposed to root for this guy? The princess asked him: "Is beauty all that matters to you?" He responds: "What else is there?" ~ Basil
Tarzan. Tarzan is a great movie, it's my number 2 favorite, actually. But there's one thing in it I can't help hating. That irritating Terk! She acts in that "too american" way. I hate the way she talks. Sort of like a Disney smart*ss. ~ Angel
Tarzan. I thought the animation was really neat, and the character development was excellent, but for some reason I couldn't follow with the plot. I dunno, it had too much reference to Beauty & the Beast (which I liked, but seeing so much of it in another movie was too much). ~ voice_chaser
Tarzan. The animation was great and the characters were very good... unfortunately, Disney's version doesn't hold a candle to Burrough's (the creator of Tarzan) version of the story. ~ Anon
Tarzan. I liked this movie(Jane was one of the best and most human heroines)but the songs dissapointed me. They weren't awful or anything, but why not let the characters do the singing? That's what makes disney movies unique,is that they're like musicals, not like other movies in which a bland pop song drones on the soundtrack. ~ Clio the Muse
Tenchi Muyo. I can understand the attachment that some people have for the later series. But for my money, the original is still the best. The animation was the best; the plotlines the most sound; and the characters the most fully developed. Did you notice that the further the stories went, the more they messed up the character of Princess Ayeka? As much as I may lust after Kiyone, I still say the first is the best. ~ Steve
Tenchi Muyo (OAV). I'm a huge Tenchi fan passing through. I think the Tenchi Muyo OAV was not as story-wise strong as Tenchi Universe. Also, Tenchi Muyo was not as character-wise strong as Tenchi in Tokyo. T'were the awesome creators to merge the best aspects of the three (originality of Muyo, story of Universe, character emphasis of Tokyo), they could make an Ultra-Tenchi that would be awesome. Sorry. ~ Lilian
Tenchi in Tokyo. I don't totally dislike this series... okay, yes I do. Adding Sakuya was good idea, but pushing the other characters back was not. The animation was colorful, cute, and would have worked nicely if it weren't for the constant switches into super deformed mode and all the flashing gags. It doesn't hold a candle to the more sophisticated humor of the OVAs. ~ Anon
Tenchi in Tokyo. I admit that my favourite tenchi series is tenchi universe (tv series)i did not like how they added sakuya to the tenchi in tokyo series! She ruined it! However I liked how this series was quite different to the others. ~ Detective Kiyo
Titan A.E. Two words - plot holes! Yeesh, guys - 20 more minutes, even a mere 10 more, could have given us a scene or two that explained a lot of things that were simply left up in the air. Also one more word - rotoscoping. When are animators going to acknowledge that reality doesn't look real in animation? ~ Kat
Titan A.E. It would have been nice to have a story along with all the rock music, explosions, and things whooshing past. Why do all the characters talk as though they are 90s teens, I wonder? :-) It's jarring to see two dimensional characters interact with three dimensional backgrounds and pieces of equipment. ~ Budman
Titan A.E. The story didn't really work if you thought about it for more than three seconds. Why didn't the Drej just kill Cale and leave the Titan lost forever, since it didn't seem like anyone else would have the motivation or ability to find it? And a lot of parts just seemed to drag. They should have concentrated on making the characters and story better rather than trying to make an animated film that was more like a video game than a movie. ~ Gadgetluv
Titan A.E..One word: pace, people pace! The film went past so fast that it almost hurt my eyes, and by the time the movie was already over, I still wasn't sure just what was going on. ~ JessKat
Titan A.E..The animation was absolutely astounding; the voices, action and music amazing. But explain one thing to me, k? What the fluff were the Drej afraid of? I mean, what were the humans going to become that the Drej had to destroy them over? It's not like they would have become dominant or anything. They just would have had another planet. I dunno. Above all else, that irked me. ~ Tappytippit
Titan A.E.. I thought that it was a great movie and I loved the animation and the voices fit the characters, but as soon as it got to some parts it took SO LONG! Keep up the tempo! And the lovey scenes just weren't believable. Oh, and if you are going to have a bad guy- the Captain- then keep him bad! Don't have him change at the last minute. And don't kill off Preed! ~ Ella
Toy Story 2. I liked the initial sequence with Buzz'game, and I liked Bullseye and Jessie (despite her yee-haws). Now the seq of Woody's restoration was toooo long and boring. And how didn't ocurried to him or Jessie that it was the Prospector whom turned the tv on??? ~ Silver Lady
Trigun. For a long time, this quirky little anime was one of my favorite shows in the genre. It had fantastic characters (like the incomparable Vash the Stampede), an engaging storyline, lots of heart and humor, a great soundtrack, etc. However, then I reached the last four episodes. It's like, the writers' turned their pens over to people who knew nothing about the show and said, "Here! You finish this up!" Little is explained and even less is resolved. That, combined with many very out of character actions and a few pointless deaths for the sake of melodrama and you have one of the worst endings to a TV series of all time. I still have to highly recommend the show - just stop at episode 22 and invent your own ending. It's got to be better than the original one. ~ Zora
The Vision of Escaflowne. (The movie: Tsubabsa no Kami, A Girl in Gaea). This movie was absolutely amazing. One of the best I've seen. It's animation was superbe and the soundtack amazing (Well it's gotta be with the 'legendary' Yoko Kanno doing it) But only one thing irked me. THE ENDING! Or should I say, What ending? O ther than that, great, great, very good movie. (I flew down to Vancouver last week just to see it!!!) ~ Escagurlie
The Vision of Escaflowne (TV Series). I loved Escaflowne, but they didn't have to kill Folken. What is the chance, upon killing someone, that the tip of your sword will break off and stab you in the heart? They couldn't have altered fate that fast. ~ Anon
Watership Down. I thought that this movie had beautiful animation considering when it was made, and the events that occurred were pretty close to Adam's novel. The problem was that it was hard to listen to the dialogue which seems too "choppy" and the characters look too simular. I could only identify maybe three or four of the rabbits who had lead roles. ~ Basil
X. The art and animation was beautiful, but can you say 'more character development', people? Also, they could've given us a clearer view of Kamui's past. And o yeah, this is something that really annoyed me- How can you have a character who's a stripper and not have a scene in a strip club?! It's, like, essential! Change the character or add a scene. ~ Emily
Yu-Gi-Oh!. Although I never saw the original series, I gotta say, the dubbed version is cool. Problem is, WB butchers too much-I heard they started on season 2!! What's with all the secrects, Kids' WB?! ~ Seiyaryu
General comments:
This is a general note for all those people who get ticked off with the storylines and how it changes when it becomes a movie. When you were little did you complain to your parents about the stories they told you, did you even care? No, and do you know why, because it is a story!! People come on! Every movie company does stories. Just forget about it if they twick it, they just want to send a message, so stop complaing. It only a story. It's thir own version of the tale. Lighten up! ~ Anon
Sequels usually tend to suck. The only good ones I can think of (in animated shows) are Toy Story 2 (I don't know how they pulled it off, but they did!) and Peter Pan 2, and that's only because I'm completely in love with Corey Burton (or at least his talents). And besides, Disney created Peter Pan way back in the 50's; it was rather easy to surpass the original movie (please read Peter Pan by Sir J.M. Barrie...it was so cute! and Hook is so awesome!). Anyhow, the lowdown on sequels is: The animation sucks, the songs suck, the voices are sometimes changed and the creators have already made their masterpiece; how do you live up to it? Basically, if you're not going to care, why make a second movie? On the other hand, if Tad Stones, Mark McCorckle and Robert Schooley want to go in on Hercules II, GO RIGHT AHEAD!:) Yay! ~In loving Memory of Howard Ashman~ ~ Greek Geek/Pandora
